I'm not a Matt fan, the dance was good but even if it was a forty (I don't think it was so there ) the judges are supposed to be impartial. They have had real difficulty being so this series but even so such a blatant display of favouritism, particularly bearing in mind that Matt had previously done a very ordinary AT with an AT champion, was truly awful and I would be very annoyed if I were Gethin or Alesha. Watching it tonight the other judges looked slightly embarassed about the whole thing.

Last year I was a Mark supporter but I felt terrible when they did the standing ovation then, imagine being Matt Dawson, dancing your all and then finding out that the so called impartial judges seemingly wanted your oponent to win and demonstrated it so obviously.

I actually think someone may have had a word in Len's ear at some point between the two shows because when Bruce asked him about the standing ovation he said that all of the really deserved one - a backtrack if ever I heard one.

True! If they all deserved one then why didn't they all get one, Len?

Speaking as an Alesha admirer (and impressed by Matt's Waltz and to a lesser extent AT), if you listen to the 'expert' commentary, you'll hear Darren and Philip saying during Alesha's AT that hers was less technically challenging AT than Matt's but even so for a lady celeb she was doing damn fine with the less complicated AT choreography. They are also implying that Matt's AT was actually the most challenging one of the three. So even though I was a little underwhelmed by Matt's not blowing me away with his AT, I thought he coped really well what was given for him to do...

There are three things needed in AT - drama, seduction and technique. All three ATs had each element in differing quantities. Gethin's was most dramatic; Alesha's most seductive; Matt's most technical. However, for me, Alesha's also had drama and technique, as did Gethin's. Matt's, though very impressive technically, didn't really have the drama or the seduction. There was very little performance there (which really baffled me considering he's an actor and she's the champion at this) which made it underwhelming.

Yes, I was a little disappointed because previous weeks I voted for them 14x because I really wanted to see a wow AT from them. Flavia went for the kill again (Len's saying they risked everything), but because of that, they can't really 'attack' or 'perform' the dance. It's a shame. Still their amazing Waltz more than made up for it...

Am I alone in thinking that the M&F waltz was no more special than Aleesha's??

No I agree but apparently they are both doing their waltzes again next week so we can compare!

It was quite silly. The boy lost the plot one week and found it the next - but younger boys are charging the Taliban every day of the week so its hardly worth a VC to dance for 90 seconds. Its not even unique on SCD - Kate came back from worse disasters, Letitia danced with no air in her body, Emma came back week after week after failing to get the public vote which was going to worse dancers, Gethin had a bigger break through learning to do something new - not recovering an existing ability. Meanwhile the same Len tore into Kelly who was dealing with a dying father and accused her of not being committed enough.

Len looked very silly. Embarrassed himself but don't all the judges embarrass themselves?

Len doing this was very patronising and utterly pointless. I went to make a cup of tea. Usually wild horses wouldn't drag me away from tv while SCD is on, but I just couldn't watch. Yuk.

I would also like to point out that I'm getting fed up with seeing posters being accused of ranting for stating valid points and giving their opinions.

I for one thought their Waltz was PERFECT as far as a male celeb goes. I remembered Gethin's Waltz was near-excellent, except for some missed heel leads and I think it was the same with Alesha (and both Gethin and Alesha edged Matt a little in PERFORMING the Waltz), but I thought Matt held himself very well and didn't put a foot wrong. Only his facial expression on two occasions (I thought it was one but I realised he did it twice when watching the dance again): i.e. he stuck out his tongue to wet his lips (either because he was nervous or he's trying to remember what to do next). But I guess the judges was swept away by the romance they so completely portrayed in the Waltz...

Bruno was more swept away by his come-back as he already said in his comments. Craig, I believe truly mark according to his criteria, music, choreography (performance) and technicalities...

I think I am the only one who thinks Matt's Waltz deserved a perfect 40. I have an impression that even Matt's most dedicated fans beg to differ with my opinion...
I don't mind being alone in this! For me his Waltz is on par with last year's AT by Mark and Karen: one dance which I will NEVER get sick of watching again and again...”

No I was swept away by it and thought it deserved a perfect score it was the first celeb dance this year to bring a little tear to my eye and i thought it was perfect

Same here. I think Matt deserved the applaud and the perfect score.

Seems the grapes are sour. No need to. It is obvious that Alesha is going to win and if she was the one in the dance off against matt the judges would have voted for the best dancer.
There was no chance whatsoever Alesha would not make the final.

I am not knocking alesha, her dancing is spellbinding, but is she a better dancer?, no i don't think so. but she performs better, if matt was to perform as well, i think he would be the better dancer.

Obviously everyone has their own opinion here and mine, like others, is that Matt's 40 and the judges' response were OTT and stupid beyond belief. It was a good waltz and a great comeback, but no way did it top either Alesha's or Gethin's.

The grapes are not sour towards Matt - I actually feel sorry for him, caught up in a soap opera of the producers' stupid making - and sorry, but it's far from inevitable that Alesha will win.

The judges falling over themselves to praise Matt has made Alesha the underdog - there is every chance she will end up the Emma Bunton of this series: brilliant dancer eclipsed by the hysteria directed at another contestant.

Len should be ashamed of himself - as should the producers.

How is it obvious Alesha will win? You never know who the public will vote for.

Yes it did. I thought Alesha's quick step was just as good. But there again she isn't getting the scores she deserves as seems to be marked as if she were a professional.

Quite.

The judges' favouritism is pathetic - and worse than ever before.

Only one solution: vote Alesha and shut them up!

Each to his/her own. I think Len has had far too much attention this series. It's down to the public now.

Over on the BBC SCD forum, on the Dance Teachers' thread I keep talking about (I've only just discovered it you see) there is a discussion about the complexity of Matt's routines and whether or not Flavia is pushing him too far. Some think yes, it's asking a lot to expect him to get through them, others think no, he is very talented so should be challenged as far as he can be.
Personally I think with 5 dances to do in the final it would be a good moment for Flavia to ease up a bit.

He and others pontificate about judging on the dance off only. Then he takes great pains to praise Matt (basically for not tripping over I guess), and unbelievably gives Matt a STANDING OVATION. Just enough to wind up the pity vote.

I hope HE obeys the rules he alleges to stick by on Saturday and judges on the dance off.

My guess is that he will talk about the journey!!! He may even mention that Alicia was not perfect as he expected and mark her down, Pat Matt on the head for not bottling out and or tripping over and mark him up.

Get rid of this bum jury for next time and replace them with ballroom dancer champions not choreographers.

One thing I did note was the BBCI judge on the red button, who's opinion I respect more (no hidden agenda), said the East Ender's dance was good but not 4 X 10 good.

I couldn't agree more that the jury needs a revamp. If you wanna let the BBC know, click on my petition page, sign the petition, and post a msg to say you've signed (or even that you disagree) - so that I can keep the petition thread bumped to the top!

Well it obvious to me that Alesha will win!! (and I do love Alesha dont get me wrong)
All the praise she has had for her dancing and not just by the judges - most, if not all the pro dancers are behind her. Alesha has also had 10s which I havent thought some were deserved tbh but I didnt make a song and dance about it. The only way Alesha wont win is if she falls flat on her face and I think that highly unlikely.

Even if Matt goes out on that dance floor on Saturday night and 'wows' us in all 5 dancers, he wouldnt win. If he did win I can just see the headlines now, Ofcom and petitions at the ready. So Matt is in a no win situation whatever!!!!!
