OK, well, I have been trying to keep calm in other threads but seeing as I'm invited to have a tantrum

.....
I'm absolutely SICK of all the Matt bashing going on everywhere on the forum, over the weekend and after ITT. I hate the way people are forgetting how well Matt can dance. He has cracked under his nerves once, yes, and it was probably fair that he went out on the quarter final - but on Saturday he did not crack once, and danced extremely well, yet people still say he was a bad dancer. Up till the foxtrot/samba week he was actually excellent. His tango was below his standard but his rumba was still the second best out of the male celebrities and would be nowhere near classed as 'bad'. And I challenge anyone who saids Matt is a bad dancer to watch the salsa again.
Us Matt fans are not deluded that Matt had danced well at the quarter final, and many of us think that Matt probably deserved to go then. But again, it's not Matt's personal fault that the public voted to keep him in, or that this week the judges did. So everyone who's saying Matt robbed Gethin/whoever's place is being ridiculous, and the obviously personal and non-dance related remarks are off the mark.
I disliked the way the BBC kept on and on (and on and on) about Matt's nerves in ITT last week. Everybody, including Matt & Flavia and the viewers at home wanted to get over the incident and move on. Speaking of the BBC, some of the editing that has been done is enormously unfair - Matt's VTs were shown where he was having a good time, then everyone immediately jumps to the conclusion that he messes around during training ALL the time when the footage shown was for 3 minutes. If he messes around all the time, how did he manage to produce that salsa, or the American Smooth, or the waltz?
I'm sick of people bashing Matt fans for voting out of sympathy / with our hormones / because he pulled on puppy dog eyes. Just as much as sensible Gethin fans don't want to be generalised as being bitter, I don't want to be plumped into the "squeeing teenage fangirl that votes for the hottest guy". I vote for Matt because I think he is a good dancer, and when on form has potential to be a real threat for Alesha. In my (own, humble, biased and obviously unworthy opinion) I think the way Gethin would really have been a threat to Alesha was in public support, rather than actual dancing - but plenty of people will dispute that point and that's OK.
The way people seem to be blaming all their frustrations of the judges onto Matt is annoying. The lad did not go out there and ASK Len to give him a standing ovation, nor to Craig to give him a 10. He just danced the waltz pretty damn well and if the judges went overboard,
it was not his fault and
it does not detract from the dance.
What is also really, really sickening is that people are saying Matt messed up on purpose on the foxtrot week to get 'sympathy votes'. Can you all honestly believe that ANYONE would voluntarily choose to be so publicly humiliated, their ego crushed and give himself the label of failure, when there was no guarantee of getting a sympathy vote? People blame him for putting on the 'puppy dog eyes' that week - what did you expect him to do, beam around and laugh it off? It's called a natural reaction to an emotional situation. What would you have done in the same situation? Everything Matt does seem to get criticised - if he laughs he's smug, if he's sad he's playing for the sympathy vote, if he works hard he's taking it too seriously, if he jokes in training he's doing no work, if he dances well he's just the judges' favourite. For Christ's sake, give the guy a break.
I am rooting for him to do well in the final but I am never, ever going to be bitter if Alesha wins. Nor would I have been bitter if Gethin had won, or speak of conspiracy theories, or that he was kicked off unfairly etc. I want both Matt and Alesha to do the best possible dances they can on the final and may the best dancer win.
I have a lot more to say, but that's it for now!
