It will be of use in the near future to down load programmes to a PC but at the moment is dead.

As the socket is a USB A type, it should only be for the attachment of peripherals such as a disk drive, not for connection to another server (e.g. PC) which would require it to be a USB B type.

The primary reason for this is that both devices would be supplying power.

It would in some ways be better to be able to use a portable disc drive to archive recordings. Is to-and-fro capabilty fairly easy for the developers to implement? and if so would a PC then be able to take the recordings from the portable drive or would it require special PC software?
