Anybody reading the excellent interview with Bruce in The Observer magazine yesterday will have found no suggestion of imminent retirement by Britain's oldest entertainer. Ineed, quite the reverse.

I'm betting that Brucie will be back for Series 6 next year. What do you think?

Please, no...

I know people love him, but I can't bear him and he ruins the show for me.

...but tell me there'll be no Tess!
Can't she go on a long spell to "I'm a celebrity in Siberia - please keep me here.."!!!

Bruce really needs to give it up now - he's just a bumbling old man and is losing it more and more each series. He even struggles to read from his card or auto-cue, calls people by the wrong name and buggers up his supposed "jokes".

He's almost 80 for crying out loud, he shouldn't even be working anymore - he was good in his day but his day was decades ago.

I'm delighted. Have a feeling that when he inevitably retires that will be the beginning of the end for SCD.

I think Vernon Kay could easily step into his shoes - they should give the job to someone young, rather than another coffin dodger.

I hope not. It's not the Bruce Forsyth show, I'm sure they'd find another presenter.

Can't see Tess going - not voluntarily anyway. SCD is her main gig of the year - the only other thing I've seen her in is that ghastly singing show she presents with Vernon.

He could take the mick and it wouldn't be such a sickening lurvvvve-fest all the time.

You'd never know they might bring in Graham Norton !!!!! IMO would be too sarcastic & would make a mockery of the dancing & the dancers.......but the BBC have to get value for money don't they??!!

I found Graham Norton far too exciteable and giddy on Strictly Dance Fever.

I think he would be the natural successor following his stints on Maria, Joseph and Dance Fever, he was always great on those and very supportive of the competitors. Some of these 'celebs' need their egos piercing from time to time anyway!

I hope Bruce stays forever and I hope I am as good as he is when I am 40 never mind 80. He is part of what makes the show great, he's good with the contestants, the judges and the audience.

In all honesty actually trying to imagine anyone else in the role is very difficult. Tess won't go though and as such I'm certain we'd end up with Vernon as the husband and wife team which would be terrible (and he's more likely to be sarcastic than Graham, have you seen him on Family Fortunes )

To the people who don't like Brucie who are you going to replace him with?

Please not Graham Norton or Vernon Kay.

I totally agree with this - he is a consumate professional and clearly gets on fantastically with the contestants, crew and even the judges... To those who say he's past it, who else can improvise like that and still keep the show moving along?

And I'm afraid I really like Tess, too. She seems so genuine compared with 95% of other hosts on TV and has an easy-going natural rapport with Bruce and the contestants. I am just baffled why people don't like her.

He is also very old, and whilst indomitable, really need to leave ths show alive. I don't think Graham Norton, I'm wondering if Julian Clary might not breathe a breath of fresh air?

And Tess is truly awful, frankly.

I gather two of the panel are going, Arlene and - my mind has gone, the one who sits next to her. Not Len.

Gethin would be a good choice and no I'm not joking.

Ah, I've remembered-ish, Clever-Horrid, or some such.

Brucey just spoils the show for me, but each to their own. I really dislike him, and I think Tess is pretty poor, too, but hey, it's only personal opinion.

Brucie is effing great. But if i was to replace him, i would go with Paul o' Grady.

Wonderful, the show wouldn't be as nice without him!!!

Charming. Good thing you'll never get old, isn't it?

Actually, this season is the first one where he's had some great jokes - the judge-insulting ones come to mind: "All we need now is a Queen..." and the one on Sat about sharing make-up tips with Craig.

11 million people seem to disagree with you, judging by the ratings...

Sorry, I have to disagree - his hosting of Strictly Dance Fever was a disaster - he was nasty, abusive and puerile. The audition dance clips were shockingly rude - I knew some of those people personally, they had real talent, and to hear them being castigated on national TV by a no-talent idiot like GN just made me

Absolutely agree - as the saying goes, the mark of a true expert is making it look easy.

Ditto to both these posts.

Oh, poo! I want Gethin to be presenter - sorry to keep harping on about it.

But the whole programme would change if that idiot Graham Norton were to present it. And certainly not Vernon Kay - smacks of nepotism.

Yay! I love Bruce and for me, SCD wouldn't be the same without him.
