Bruce has been brightening up my Saturday nights all my life. I hope that I'm as fit as he is when I'm pushing 80.

Ditto, ditto!! Bruce has quite simply always been Mr Saturday Night. I'm pretty sure that Harold and William delayed the Battle of Hastings until after Bruce's show finished. Strictly without Bruce would be like Christmas without Santa, or a pub without ale!

So here's to Bruce in 2008!! Clink!

Hope Tess goes. Does there need to be a bloke + girly presenting it? Perhaps Anton together with Julian in a nice frock......”

Together in matching frocks - what a visual!

Please no, I find him as fake as they come and charmless.

Bruce keeps the last vestiges of integrity in the show intact.

I know I'm in a minority here but I love the jokes, and all the asides where he goes wrong.
Like 'I'll clear this place!', 'I wish I was dead!'
The bit when he danced with the crew member when Mark and Karen went wrong.
And of course,
'You're my favourites!'
Well Brucie you ARE my favourite and noone else will do!

Except for the bit where Jill Halfpenny's mum made an appearance on the floor and he shooed her away!

Actually i think it's more like an embarrassed majority than a minority John!

I agree with you wholeheartedly anyway. As former BBC DG Greg Dyke said:

"I'm mad about him. He is one of the great performers of our generation - of any generation. He's got the look, he's got the style, he can do it all. He just is a star. You might ask how - or even why - but when you see it you cannot deny it."

By the way I am told that the BBC are going to do Bruce Night on his 80th birthday! Something to look forward too after the holidays finish!

I love Brucie. He makes the show for me, with all the messed up jokes and glances aside when they fall flat.

you will be his age some time in the future. He is amazing and I hope he goes on for a long time.

I am with you there green guy!

After seeing Bruce on ITT last night - when he was very funny - it seemed to me that he was an instigator behind the show, not just a front man??

Well Fiona Bruce may have some time on her hands now so how about Fiona to replace Tess

That would be the death of SCD - the prancing pillock - never!

Bruce should keep doing it as long as he wants to - he is the very soul of the show.

11 million people are tuning in just to see Bruce Forsyth? Get real - the majority of those would tune in regardless of who presented it.

Yes, he's 78 and he's just as much a bumbling fool as Bruce!

You do realise that you will be old yourself one day

I hope there is a bit more compassion and respect around when that happens.

And Vernon Kay is a " One Trick Pony" .

Bruce is a song and dance man and all round entertainer who is probably more quick-witted than Tess will ever be
(and I quite like her )

He used to be Mr Sunday Night with " Sunday Night at the London Palladium"

That was well before my time but I have heard how Bruce absolutely transformed that show so that it became the TV event of the week! I guess it's hard for us to appreciate now how much of an impact it had, because we have lived with TV for so long we have become acclimatised to it.

He's not funny. He can hardly remember the names.

Please, please replace him - I regularly switch over (out of embarassment) when he's on.

I was very young but it was required viewing

Everyone gathered around the television having high quality entertainment broadcast into their own house .

And if anything fell flat ( which it could often do as it was as I remember , live television ) , Bruce would ad lib and fill in until things could be sorted out.
