What dances are confirmed for the final for each contestant?

Led to believe M&F are doing the waltz and salsa and M&A are doing the waltz and chacha. Read in the paper today that it is their highest scoring dances throughout the series

Just posted elsewhere that Gethin said on ITT that he would be dancing the waltz and salsa (I'm pretty sure it was salsa).

I'd be surprised if they wanted the celebrities to do the same dances so I think that might count out Alesha and Matt's waltz and salsa.

So, my guess is:

Matt : quickstep and rumba
Alesha : tango and cha cha

But Gethin isn't in the final so why would that rule out Waltz or Salsa for Alesha or Matt??

Obviously doesn't rule it out. But I assumed that the semi-finalists had chosen their dances for Gethin to say what he said. (Maybe they're not allowed to use their final week dance).

For the rest, I'm only offering up a guess for discussion.

I really want to see their foxtrot again...as it was choreographed, without the improv! Oh and their jive!!

I think other dancers have said similar things when voted off in the semis - don't know if it's a firm decision or just "we would have liked..."

Presumably they must have a fair idea though, you wouldn't want to get to final week and then sit down for 3 hours discussing which dances to do!


I don't think there's a dance of Alesha's that I'd object to seeing again, but I think those are two I would really enjoy immensely come the final!

If I remember rightly last series the dancers were able to choose for themselves and Mark and Karen surprised by doing the tango as their ballroom dance. Obviously both professionals are going to choose the ones they think will show off the celebrities best.

Yes, last year Mark and Karen chose one of the dances that was not their highest scoring.

I'm a little concerned if Alesha does the tango. While it was brilliant, I'm not sure what their potential for improvement is.

The VW would be best but I suppose they'll be doing it for the group dance. Foxtrot then?

I'm never right about these things but have decided that they will do the jive for their latin.

The jive because I've heard it's Matt Cutler's fave latin dance, it was earlier in the series so not as fresh in ppl's minds, performed well for week 3 so I'm sure it will be even better now, lots of fun, good song etc. There is a risk of comparison with THAT jive but I don't think that should be a disadvantage

I don't think it will be cha cha cos that's in the chrimbo show
I don't think it will be salsa cos I think Matt will do his salsa (Gethin's comments notwithstanding of course) (a shame cos I lurved their salsa)
I don't think rumba because I think they'll go upbeat with the latin and rumba could highlight the feet/floor/standing leg issues
Not paso cos it was too recent and bizarrely didn't seem to sit as well with Alesha although it would be nice to see it as originally intended especially if a hair drag was involved!
Not samba as fairly recent and actually it was a good samba to an awful song for the samba (good song just not for samba imo) See youtube alternative version from Bendymixer to see what a difference a new song makes

As for the ballroom I don't have a guess except to say

VW will be done by both so not that
QS was brilliant but too recent and I think Matt will do his quickstep
Tango too recent and not a good song for public votes imo (first part arranged ok, last part dire)
Waltz was gorgeous and the song and arrangement is a winner but ?too much like the VW to choose t as the ballroom dance
Am Smooth was excellent and based on QS so should be even better now but maybe they will want to show a romantic or dramatic side to their dancing instead of another bouncy upbeat dance
Foxtrot was dreamy and would be great to see it without the improvisation

So I guess I'd narrow it down to waltz,foxtrot,am smooth in that order.

Yes, I think it's between jive and cha cha cha, and would LOVE to see their jive again. And honestly, was never as taken by Jill's jive as everyone else

Yes, Jill's jive was a corker but I hate to think ppl won't jive in a final again for fear of comparison

Technically, perhaps little to improve on with Jills but certainly could be equalled and partnership-wise and chemistry-wise I find A+M on another planet from J+D (I'm gonna get slated for that but I liked J+D, really I did, so I'm at peace with it )

Cha cha may still happen....didn't Mark do salsa in final and christmas spesh?

In series 2 Denise and Julian did the same 2 dances for the final - samba and quickstep.


Me neither, and I reckon the "Jill's jive was the best thing in the entire world and cannot be bettered" thinking probably doesn't exist amongst most of the 11 million final viewers who probably didn't watch or cannot remember series 2. I watched it but if I never came on here, I won't have remembered that jive until it was mentioned on ITT. I much preferred Louisa and Alesha's.

I think somebody would but apart from Louisa no one has actually done a decent Jive till this series.

Louisa's jive was fantastic...one of my fave dances from last year....and a similar sorta sparkly green hotpant stylie outfit like Alesha's I think?

In choosing the dances, I took into account [LIST][*]Gethin's comment - assuming they won't want them to do the same dances (but understand it has happened in the past)[*]They will be doing a group VW (anyone think it would be fun for them to do a group salsa instead - then Alesha COULD do her VW in contrast)[*]Past experience on Christmas Special (no spoiler)[*]Also Alesha said that she did SCD to do the tango - so it might still be her favourite dance.[/LIST]With a real sassy latin, it would allow Matthew/Alesha to do a showdance to highlight her romantic ballroom then finishing with a latin flourish.
Think Matt's dances would be a very good contrast if their showdance is fast and upbeat.

But I think another consideration may well be that Matthew and Alesha will take into account her nan's favourite dance - Tessa mentioned it was her birthday this week.

I thought they weren't allowed to do dances they had performed in the semis, thus ruling out Matt's waltz?

Mark did the salsa in both the xmas special and the final so I don't see why Alesha shouldn't do the Cha Cha..that or a reworked samba would work for me ( I didn't actually like her jive I preferred Kellys)I'd like to see her foxtrot again..but they may go for a more impact dance with the Tango.

Is there a rule that they can't do the AS in the final? If not I can see Matt doing that...baring that I suppose the quickstep and I suppose the salsa. The rumba again maybe be percieved to lack impact

Well let's hope they've chosen a proper song for that one. The more I think about it, the more it seems Crazy in love is the worst Cha-Cha song ever.

Would love to see A/M's Salsa again as I thought it was fantastic, however doubt they'll do it again so hopeing for the Jive

Having a think about their final dances:

VW out because of the group VW
Quickstep out because they performed it in the semi
Waltz out as too much comparison to Matt's 40
AS out (I'm hoping) because too similar to their showdance
Leaving: tango and foxtrot. Foxtrot would be good to see because we'd see what it was meant to be like, but the tango could be very dramatic...

Samba out - wasn't their greatest
Salsa poss. out as likely to be Matt's latin
Rumba poss. out as not perhaps eye-catching enough for a final
Cha-cha I'm hoping out as it has bad memories for me with the backlash it created here, and for another reason:

Leaving Paso and Jive. Paso would go better with the foxtrot, but would mean doing two routines that had mistakes in them the first time. Jive would be so improved, it's not as fresh in the memory, and also had one of the best music choices of the series. It does draw comparison to St Jill of the Jive, but IMO, Alesha is a match for her! It's quite a different jive, so also not as comparable.

So, for me, I'd like to see tango and jive, with a showdance that is close to AS. Can't tell yet for the judges' choice, but I think I'd prefer them to do something ballroomy - perhaps akin to foxtrot...

Matthew and Alesha are slightly spoilt for choice though with theirs. Matt and Flavia... Quickstep/AS depending on whether it's allowed in final and salsa (though I'd prefer to see their paso or jive again - he would possibly escape the comparison to Jill being male.) They could alternatively revisit their rumba.

I think Matt will do his salsa and QS.

I would love, love, love Alesha to do her jive again and her ballroom either be tango/waltz/foxtrot (I can't decide- I love them all!!)
