I Feel So Sorry For Leon...
...and you know why?
The pure vitriol that lad has had to suffer, not only after the final, but also for several weeks before. ![]() It's not only on message boards, though, there's all that complaining to Ofcom and ITV because apparently no one could vote for the other finalist, and then there are some radio stations snubbing Leon's song, and even mentions on the news accusing The X Factor of "fixing" the result. Can you honestly believe that Simon Cowell would have this competition fixed so that Leon would win? Simon was not exactly Leon's biggest fan. Leon's victory has been tarnished for him. I don't care whether people like his voice or not, but the personal abuse against him is just pure needless BULLYING. He's an 18-year-old singer FFS, not a murderer or paedophile! ![]() I had to post this as I feel bad for him. Would "you" (not aiming this at anyone in particular) like to be treated in this way or have one of "your" family members verbally attacked by TOTAL STRANGERS? Of course not. It's shameful. Why can't people let it lie and wish him luck. Leon said in an interview yesterday that he and Rhydian are friends and will keep in touch.... I'm sure that there are fans of other finalists who also think that Leon has been badly treated. Sorry, needed to get all this off my chest.

Radio One would have snubbed Rhydian too if he'd won. The song's awful and not what they play.

Water off a ducks back - Leon is too busy to notice, plus he's on an all time high form winning the XFactor, plus he's only had 5 hours sleep since Saturday...
Plus, the guy is the winner, not the loser - there is really nothing to feel sorry for him about. ![]() It's the disgruntled loser's fans that I feel sorry for - all that negativity can't be healthy.

I do sympathise. It was the reason why at the back of my mind I didn't really want SD to win because they would have been truly slaughtered by the media. Winning can be a poisoned chalice.

Its a forum not everyone is going to agree on everything, you have got to take it on the chin, and respond in the right manner

I agree with the opening completely and I wanted Rhydian to win. Its UNFAIR how some people are treating him, give the lad a chance and don't write him off straight away for goodness sake. We must behave ourselves

Steve had loads of negative press whilst G4 came out of the X Factor smelling of roses. The press can be so cruel ![]() I hope Leon doesn't have to go through any of that.

I agree with the OP - but unfortunately there's a backlash against the winner every year - Maybe this year is even worse - Some people just enjoy running other people down.
Seems to me that Leon is a well grounded lad with a supportive family and he has grit and determination otherwise he would never have got through to the final - he survived a pasting from Simon Cowell at the beginning for two weeks in a row, even after he sang Home Simon had nothing good to say about him. I think Leon will rise above the criticism and concentrate on what he loves - music. And the bitter comments on here and in the press won't last much longer. The vultures will move on to different prey next week. |

The backlash from the supporters happens every year especially on here and I know I've been here.

OP I would say that Hope have endured more vitriol on here than Leon regardless of the final. Maybe their plight has lowered since the final but still they had to endure far more than Leon will ever have to.
This coming from someone who puts Hope in her worst 2 acts of the series. |
