For example, they've talked about Letitia's inability to move her hips and how this was down to the balls of her feet not connecting properly with the floor, a problem that they think should have been dealt with in the beginning but was only pointed out by the judges at a later stage - far too late to correct it.”

rita1, anyone who has learnt Latin American dancing knows that you have push down into the floor as you transfer your weight from one foot to the other which automatically produces the hip movement. It was was mentioned by Arlene that Kelly did use her feet correctly in the Rumba. The judges, as you say, didn't say anything constructive to Letitia - just that her hips weren't moving. This is something Darren would know how to correct but maybe they need to know that after five series the audience is becoming more sophisticated. They also failed to pick up on Alesha's footwork in her Cha cha cha which they rewarded with high marks on the basis of the performance. The hip movement is a basic needed for the lowest level of dance exam, the bronze medal. I would like to see the cha cha and the waltz performed in the first weeks of the competition as this is the order in which the dances are usually learned. Penny had learnt the waltz but she never got to perform it. I would not be in favour of having a thread exclusively for dance teachers. There are several of these on DS and their input has been invaluable in helping to assess the merits of the dances.
