Help with Panasonic DVD Recorder
Arandora
18-12-2007
Hope someone can help or point me in the diretion of the right place to post if this is wrong forum.
I have just bought and installed a Panasonic DMR-EZ47VEB DVD/VHS Combi to add to my Sony Bravia KDL-40S2010, Sky HD box and Sony DAV-S800 AV System.
The Panasonic Free View tuner installed perfectly but the problem I am having is when I use it to play back DVDs either a Movie DVD (original not copy) or slideshows of a recent holiday created on my PC using DVD+R, the screen flashes with brief picture loss between transitions from image to image.
The DVD plays fine on the Sony.
The Panasonic is connected to AV1 on my TV, the Sky box to AV4.
Any suggestions to correct what seems to be a connection problem would be very much appreiated.
Regards
Alan

If you tune the TV to AV1 and you can see Freeview images clearly, can change channel with the DVD remote and the pictures are stable then there is nothing wrong with the connection (I did suspect a loose scart lead) and must be an issue with the playing part of the DVD.

Youre not watching the DVD recorder over RF are you?

How do I check that? (bear with me, not that versed in AV stuff!)

Edit:
The freeview pic was stable and I could change channels ok. However, I have just gone into DVD function menu to check Set Up and when I tabbed down to Picture Set up, the flashing and loss of picture started before I went into Picture options. There are 3 options:
Comb Filter - set to off
Still Mode - set to Automatic
Seamless Play - set to on.
I left them as they were.
If I go to Connection, the settings are:
TV Aspect - set to 16:9
Progressive - Off
TV System - PAL
HDMI Settings - no options given
AV1 Output - set to RGB2
AV2 Settings - no options given.

When I return to TV the picture is stable.

RGB1 sets the output all the time, RGB2 is only active during playback or on screen menu. This could be the problem.

PS Just a warning for the Festive Season, I just read an article on the dangers of heavy drinking....
Scared the sh*t out of me.
So that's it!
After today, no more reading.

If you have more than one scart (or only the one device going into scart1) then the TV will only switch to the DVDR when it's needed in RGB2 mode.

However if this machine is the same as mine (EX75) then you cannot select RGB from scart anyway when you have component or HDMI enabled - it does still allow RGB pass through though.
