The first single will go to number 1
The second will not break into the top ten
The album will sell about 50k
and then he'll be dropped.

6 months - tops.

There's no point in spending Leona-like time over the album - it's not worth it. Sorry kid - you don't have the talent or charisma to make it.

Well if you go by peoples reactions on this forum he will be lucky to even get Xmas no.1 and that will be it. Most people on here wont even give his album a listen purely cos they are angry that he won. I think he will have to come out with something amazing to even stand a chance and by that I mean not cover versions and not Shayne Ward style ballads.

yeah but on the other hand, if it wasn't for this board I would just be a casual Leon fan. Because of the rubbish I've been reading on here the past 3 days, I'm now a die-hard and will buy every single thing he releases!!

We have this thread after every X factor final and Shayne and Leonie have proved you all wrong.

But Shayne Ward [yuck] and Leona Lewis had something that Leon is lacking i.e. talent

All the doubts expressed about Leon's career can just as easily be applied to Rhydian. I happen to think Leon is talented singer who can only get better but even if people think otherwise nobody can predict musical success. Kylie Minogue is a superstar and mega successfulbut Dannii Minogue is not so succesful. Both sisters can't really sing, have little musical talent and rely on their looks but one is successful and the other isn't. So just as Rhydian fans were so cock sure he would win X Factor and can't handle the fact that he didn't now they are making arrogant assumptions about Leon's career, they might just find themselves in for another shock

I agree JennyLoo - he has a great warm voice and depth. Some of us just saw the same thing in him that Dannii saw when she put him through. Rhydian was good, no doubt and his fans talk about being moved to tears, fair enough - that's how I feel about Leon when he sings.

Leon is not like a young Frank Sinatra. Frank Sinatra didn't need a talent competition voted for by 12 year old girls to become one of the best singers of all time. Frankly if you think that then you are a f****** moron.
Please excuse my honesty.

He'll almost certainly have at least a Xmas #1 out of it, which is more than anyone on this board has achieved. Well done to him!

That's not honesty - it's arrogance......

It's Leona. With an 'a'.

I can't see Leon lasting any longer than Ray Quinn did, similar style and personalities. If his song fails to get to number one and there is some doubt about that at the moment, then he could conceivably be gone in just a few months.

How Long Do You Give Leon Before His Career Dies?

Surely with all the Ofcom matter his career is dead before it starts. This will hang over him for a long time and he`ll be in a `Whatever happen to...` programme soon.

To be honest I don't know because a lot will depend on:

1. What he does next and
2. What he does after it.

he may need to change style a bit as the sort of music he does now may not be popular in 5 years time and nobody would buy it. Also, if he keeps doing the same thing, many may get bored (although others have got away with it).

Also the fact that he doesn't write his own material means he will be relying on others to provide for him, and that is often a bad sign. He may have to learn to start writing his own music. (Maybe he has tried already, I don't know).

Similar genre of music maybe but that's it. Personality, what personality? Leon just looked blank most of the time.

I'll say probably after the First Week of X Factor 2008 they have got to do a "Last Year...." thing at the beggining of the show.

Leona is still around because they didn't let her release anything till about 2mins ago and Shayne has already started on the downward slippery slope - next year will be his deciding year.

Ah !- the power of a limited vocabulary, and spoken in the language of Shakespeare as well.

Such eloquance.

If that is how you measure achievement and defend a poor artist, then good for you, mate!

I agree! However, I do think he will continue his career (on a smaller scale), in Scotland. Don't think he'll ever go back to his old job. Leon might even become a presenter, in Scotland.

The Scottish always support their acts. Remember Ray Wilson - Lead singer of Stiltskin. He continues to perform in Scotland and Europe. The Scottish & European press continue to support him too.

ps
I am a fan of the beautiful, talented songwriter/singer Ray Wilson. If anyone wants to hear his new material, I'll put his website link up. Let me know if you're interested.
