Glad to hear the MacDonalds are still going strong.
I don't know about a time scale but I think he will be dropped by his record company after the first album (unfortunatley they are obligated to do one) and only be heard of again in Scotland a la Macdonalds and Michelle McManus (sorry Scots!)
1 album and then " he will be in the studio or writing" then he will pop up on im a celebrity in the jungle in 2 years.
Personally i think this will completely mess him up when the inivitiable happens to him. Its a bit mean giving him false hope.

Can I just add, Ray Wilson has written a song about talent shows like X-Factor. It's called, "Fame" have a listen.

I'd be suprised if he's still around in a years time - I think he'll be quietly dropped by the record company at some stage over the next 12 months
just give the lad a chance, he needs time to hes very young very inexperienced, if hes given the right people to work with him who knows what the future could bring.
Leon as a lovely warm tone to his voice and given the right material has a potential to do very well.
i just hope hes not reading any of the negativity thats being said about him and his future at the moment its not what he neeeds right now.

Michelle McManus has created her own record label thanks to the small fortune she has amassed from a number of wise property investments.
Can we forecast at this point? He isn't even the official no.1 yet.
If we are being mean-spirited there's no point in this thread, but if we want sensible suggestions, thoughts....
I would say more popular/successful than Steve Brookstein, but less than Shayne Ward.
Big numbers on the first album, but a disappointing follow up. No third album.

I was going to agree with your first sentence, but then read the second one, that you are using to belittling Rhydian...
I would have agreed I you had removed the ' that Rhydian does not have' bit . Was this really necessary?

I just found Rhydian to be very 'cold' and I know I'm not alone in this! And after seeing that before he sings he walks around wearing a black balaclava.... the mind boggles!

1. Mother teresa had those qualities, as do many other people- dosent mean they can sing or have the x factor though
2. Leon can do swing and a bit of disco. Rhydian can do opera, show songs, ballads and anthems so I am not really sure what your point is.
3. Leon shouldnt need to be "taught how best to use his voice"- he has just won x factor- surely this admission that he needs trained is evidence in itself that you recognise he wasnt the strongest singer- nikki, rhyd, Bev, SD wouldnt need such training

Well maybe they should just go to all the stage schools, music colleges and agents in the country and just ask for people with X amount of training/experience to audition.
Oops forgot they probably do that..didn't Leona go to Italia Conti, Brit School etc

I dont care about what others have done. Surely the essential ingredient to x factor is having a winner that can sing to a good standard and not be nervous/ crying/ singing out of tune after the award has been given. It just confirms that Leon won more on sob story than talent

Singers need to look good , sing better , sometimes a gimmick helps ( dress wise )
Comedians need to be able to get a laugh without resorting to bad language as most of them finish up doing the holiday camps ,
Novelty Acts need to be bright , exciting material , good stage presence , also a bit of danger goes down well ,
All acts must be able to make a bad/tough audience stop their talking and concentrate on you , If you can't do the last thing most of the time you should consider your future
