If it's been said somewhere on here I have missed it!

I assumed that we had the same as last year - fave ballrom, fave latin, showdance, dual VW, judges' choice.

But others have read that it's highest scoring latin and ballroom, or that somewhere the judges get to choose which dances are repeated... etc.

Have we been told for sure? I'm confused - easily done, I admit!

On ITT yesterday, Bruno said they are repeating 2 dances, which rules out the judges picking their favourite 2 dances for each couple aswell. I bet it will be the same format as last year.

I assumed it was the same as last year, but there seems to be confusion over the judges' choice - whether like last year, where they choreographed two different dances to one piece of music, or like DWTS where the judges pick which dance they'd like to see repeated.

I doubt it's the highest scoring ballroom and latin - Gethin said on ITT yesterday that he'd have been doing the Salsa, which wasn't his highest scoring latin.

i *think* Matt did Waltz/Samba/Quickstep (as judges choice)

and Mark did Tango/Salsa/Samba (as judges choice)

Might be wrong though, don't have a good memory.

You're right. And they both did a "group" Viennese waltz too. I'd love it if during their VW Matt D and Alesha broke the rules a little bit and danced with each other after one minute with their partners, leaving Flavia and Matthew to dance together for comparison! This wiil be a bit like what Erin was trying to do with puppetgate - showing they can dance without their pros.

From BBC Website: Hope it helps!

For the final on 22nd December each couple will dance five times in total: In the main show our two finalists will perform their favourite Ballroom dance, favourite Latin dance and a judges choice which involves both couples dancing to one piece of music which can include more than one type of dance. The judges will mark these performances details below.

In the results show at 9.35pm the two finalists will perform a group Viennese Waltz and a Show dance where unlimited lifts are permitted.

Our four judges will comment on all performances and score the main show dances from 1-10, with 10 being the highest possible mark. The four judges' scores will be added together and placed on a leader board.

The rest is up to you, the viewer. The phone lines will open for our final two after the results show on Sunday 16th Dec and will remain open until our results show on Saturday 22nd Dec. It is then that your votes will be counted and verified.

I don't understand why they do a group VW. Why single out that dance? In the earlier series they did a VW because it was not a featured dance in earlier rounds, but in this series (and possibly the last one) it has been.

Must admit I think the group VW is surplus to requirements in the final

It's the easiest dance to do with more than one couple on the floor at the same time. (Would be my guess)

Same, plus if it was another dance both couples would be doing different choreography, so the VW keeps it simple and restrained, meaning the audience can compare the couples against one another... Well that my guess.

I agree that the reasons given above are the most obvious ones.

I think the VW is a good dance to do.
It seems like a really stressful week though.
I know they've already done two of the dances before but they'll have to learn the judges choice, the freestyle AND the VW group dance all from scratch. Especially as im sure they'll want to spend a lot of time on their freestyle.
Good luck to all 4 of them

I can only speak for Alesha and Matthew, but if they're reprising their chacha and waltz I'm sure they remember the routines as they were fairly recent, and they're both fairly easy dances anyway. They did a VW recently so it's only a matter of dancing it to different music. For the judges' choice, if it's upbeat I hope they'll do a quickstep and they can use bits of saturday's routine. So the only "new" dance will be the showdance.

My friend received the news too, and from his email it appears Matt's waltz is not an option as he did it in the semis. So, Matt's dances could be:

Ballroom - Quickstep?
Latin - rumba?
Judges Choice - salsa?

There is one two couples, so what do they mean by "group VW"? Does this mean there will be others dancing with them? I dont understand. Perhaps some kind soul can clear this up for me.

They'll both dance the VW at the same time, not really sure why they call it a group dance though.
