Hey all

I am a Fan of Doctor who and have only really ever seen the "new" seasons and i was wondering About the Doctors real name, because they have mentioned a few times about how he hides his name and i was wondering if there is ever going to be a revel of his name or what do we know about his name because they go on about how he Hides It.

And randomly the song from season 3 Family of Blood does anyone know if that song right at the end with the WW1 service and the old man sees the doctor is on the 3rd doctor who album

thanks

That was a nickname he had in College (well the Time Lord Academy).

The Doctor once said his name was unprononcible by humans but since every other time lord we've met (apart from those who prefer titles) has had a name that could be prononced* I think he was probably fibbing.

As to if the name will ever be revealed I doubt it unless they do it in the last ever episode.

heya Beth, i had the same problem, that piece of music at the end of family of blood, at the service was the best theme I thought from season three and it wasn't on the OST as a solo piece!!!!

Made me sad, I loved it, so thought I'd make it myself using a few techniques of my own...fraid thats only way to get it unless its released properly, which is a real shame! =(

I. M. Foreman.

Possibly

That's the name that was written on the gate to the yard in which the Tardis was parked in the pilot episode, and his granddaughter went by the name of Susan Foreman. When his first human assistant addressed him as "Doctor Foreman" he just said "Doctor Who?? What's he talking about?", that's generally accepted as an indication that it wasn't his name, but IMO it wasn't a flat out denial.

Lol, it took me a good few minutes to work out where I'd heard that...

...and then I gave up and googled it. Because I just couldn't remember.

So, for anyone like me who also gives up:

mclovin, thats the track to the end of gridlock, episode 3 abide with me is, think what was meant is the music right at the very end when you see the remembrance service and the doctor and martha are watching from afar

the music is really dramatic yet beautifully done and matches the content and idea behind that scene magicaly...

its partly in the 'the doctor forever' on the OST, but it misses some of it out =(

Its the mystery that is at the heart of the show. If they ever answer it then the show has little reason to contunue IMO

I prefer to think that only a handful of characters know his true identity - The Master, The Rani and the Doctor himself. That is pretty much what the classic series implied and its seems the new series is sticking to that part of the mythology.

He is, but that's still not his real name.

I bet it's John Smith. And that's why he never tells anyone. Make him sound too ordinary.

Fascinating. I didnt remember that detail (I was only 6). You could read that to mean "I am before man" ... which would be unsurprising for a timelord.

BUT, just in case Mr Davies is reading this, wouldn't it make a good story to explain how he came to be on earth in the firstplace ... with his grandaughter ... if indeed it is ... and wouldn't that make Susan a timelord too? I guess the original actress is still around. And if he was nearly 900 at the time, how old was (is) she? ... and is Susan her real name ?

Susan is supposed to 'be' in the near(er) future now after the Daleks have invaded London.

Could be a very interesting story.

I (and a couple of others) when this was last debated on here recalled an old B & W episode in which the Doctor told his first companion that his name was something or other but she could not pronounce it or understand it, hence their use of Doctor stuck.

But we were told that we had misremembered, as might be true.

Of course, if RTD has his way and ever reveals the doctors real name it will be something like

Suldarlvistees

Spoiler
Or another anagram of Russell T Davies

The Jagrafess is his son Very Star Wars.
