OK I know the standard wasn't as high as the subsequent years buy why oh why do they keep on forgetting that Brendan & Natasha won SCD1 - I was most disappointed on tonights ITT that during the winners story they weren't even mentioned

As someone who didn't watch series 1, I completely agree. I don't understand why it gets left out. I can't believe Natasha refuses to be interviewed about it. The only bit they ever show of series 1 is Chris Parker's paso!

It was more or less a pilot, wrong time of the year, too short, poor quality dancing, marred by the B&N scandal, Chris Parker... best forgotten.

Have a look on SCD site on the BBC. It has Natasha talking about her experience. I think this is part of a documentary that will be shown around Xmas

Natasha has moved to Five in an exclusive contract so she cant appear on any other channel. This may be the reason.

Anyway since 2004 Natasha has never returned to SCD, like never appear on ITT or in the studio on Sat nights.

I'd love to see some repeats of SCD1. I didn't watch it and I want to see what it was like before the professional dancers were just as famous as the celebrities and before the judges became caricatures of themselves. Was Brucie any better?

Most of all I'd like to see what the scores were like. How many 10s were handed out? Was 7 considered a good score (which it is) or the insult that it seems to be perceived as now? And did the audience boo and hiss as if they were at a panto everytime a judge said anything other than "brilliant"?

As for the original question, I've no idea why it's mentioned so little. They do bring up the Christopher Parker thing quite often. Maybe they're embarassed about the Brendan-Natasha affair, although this doesn't seem likely given how desperate they have been to fabricate romances between other couples in every subsequent series.

Maybe they think it just wasn't good enough?

EXACTLY !! I was just thinking the same thing!

Natasha and Brendan DID win Series 1 !!! Danced brilliantly, IMO after finding Chris Parker running around with the Paso Doble Cape so hilariously funny and THEN to watch Brendan & Natasha dance the Paso Doble so brilliantly complete with dramatic Operatic music - magic!!

Another little reminder they ALSO got a "10" for their Samba and another thing, as the group dirty dancing this year was sooooo brilliant, Anyone remember Brendan & Natasha dancing this complete with "THE LIFT" as their show-dance in Series 1.
Also, the Foxtrot was great if memory serves me correctly?!

Yes, I know the so called fuss at the time with B & N "off" the floor may make it a little bit awkward, but the long and the short of the story, Brendan and Natasha's names are ALSO on the famous SCD Glitter Ball !!

Natasha was the only one to get a 10

Natasha hasn't been on ITT as she moved to work on the 6pm news in 2005! She always says it was great to be on SCD in interviews so I'm sure she'd do bits for them if asked.

I agree that SCD1 does seem to be mostly ignored which is a shame as there were some good dances and it caused a lot of people to fall in love with ballroom and latin dancing.

In many ways, I think it was the best. The scores were lower.... I think N&B got the only 10 of the series for their samba..... which meant that they all had something to strive for.

The celebs were very "green" about the whole concept of ballroom dancing and all of them matured throughout the run. Since they had no idea what to expect, there wasn't the same pressure and with their only being 8 couples, they all got a fair amount of air time. Also, SCD on 3 was a much better format than ITT and it also had the after-show programme which was superb.

Natasha is out of favour with the BBC now she has defected. Also, she has never got over Julian calling her a wh*re on the live show when she interviewed him...

Cos Kerplunksky has done a bunk to channel 5 AND the Chris Parker Kerplunksky final was a bit of a large sigh of relief. Is ther any of us here actually believe we would be if here CP had won. And sorry her and Brendan were NOT that good and she was always reluctant from day 1 and then there is the 'history' of her and Brendan.

Heck ITT might have been beating her door down wanting comments but the snooty nosed stick insect told them to 'insert your own vulgarity' off. I reckon since series 1 Jill Halfpenny upped the ante and since then the sportsmen took over and every celeb realises it is not poncing around as could have been the case in series 1.

maybe they asked Natasha and she refused to appear - ever thought of that? its not like Natasha and Brendon are never mentioned as the winners of SCD1 - her name was listed along with all the others when the winners segment started playing so no I dont think the BBC have forgotten S1

I know, it's weird isn't it? It's like it's been airbrushed out of history or something...

I was reading the forums over the weekend and their were many threads calling for Len and Bruno to be replaced. In one of the threads they were saying that somebody who had the surname of Byrne used to be a judge on SCD1.

Everything has had a change except the judges...time they were changed...get rid of Bruno and Len - let them go to America...

I think it is a shame SCD 1 is forgotten. Natasha and Brendan's dance partnership played a big part in initially getting people interested in ballroom/latin. There were many great characters amongst the professionals too.

I think someone suggested that John Byrne (who danced with Claire Sweeney in the first series) should replace one of the judges, but he hasn't been one as yet.

Series 1 also had no ITT (IIRC) and instead had Justin Lee Collins presented a Saturday night show on BBC3 after the live show

Other than that, and the changes made to the elimination process this yera, it's exactely the same.

Amazing that it's even more successful all these years on without having any format tweaks (i.e. X Factor)
