Had my 37" LCD TV for about 16 months and it's been absolutely fine. Switched it on yesterday and I noticed that there is a kind of red dotted 'shroud' around the picture- a bit like if you use 'solarise' on paint shop pro..if you follow me. After about 10-15 minutes it disappeared and was fine. Switched it on again today, and the problem was there again...off these scant details, anyone any idea what might be causing this?

Didn't honestly think it would have been 'that' important to give make and model- but in any case it's DMTech 37" LCD TV with built in Freeview and DVD player- bought from PC World in September 2006. I think the model number is LT37-XT.

Tried all the usual- switch it off at the main, switch back on- I've tried it with all of the outputs out and put back in one at a time, nothing changes it. Instead of the usual black screen as it starts up, it a mass of red and this shows through the picture when it comes on screen.

It is the single most important info required...it's like stating you need a new alternator/exhaust/wiper blade for your car...first thing you're asked is car make/model/year

AFAIK DMTECH have appointed one repair co in the UK to handle all spares and repairs on their LCD models and they are a company called Amkotron Tel 01740 645566.
They are a closed shop and will not release any info or spares to the TV repair trade.
Good luck.

Hang on a sec, I thought tihs might be one of those 'generic' questions that could apply to the TECHNOLOGY rather than an individual make or model. Using your car analogy-if I'd asked 'Why is my tempareture gauge in the red' - there would be an answer that would be generic..anywayway..moving on...

Just called them and you get into an endless loop of 'press 1 for...' etc. when you ``press the service number, it rings out and goes back to the main menu- ditto on all other options. I suppose they may have already shut for Christmas.

I've also e mailed the Dutch service centre for DM Tech.

In the meantime- switched it on today-the blacks were all a 'fuzzy' red then all of a sudden- it cleared and the picture went back to normal. Stayed like that for quite a while, then it went off again. The really strange thing was that when I moved the set slightly (It's on a stand, not wall mounted), it cleared again, but only for a few seconds. This is why I was wondering whether there was some kind of 'Generic LCD screen' answer-something like when you got a build up of static or something on a CRT and the TV guy waved some kind of 'wand' across the screen to clear it.

This is getting stranger by the minute. I have the computer attached to the LCD TV via DVI. If I go to the DVI input on the TV, the computer image on the LCD TVscreen displays perfectly. If I cycle though the picture sizes, when I get to 4:3, you can see the red 'fuzz' on either side of the image but it's not affecting the actual image itself..

very, very strange...

sorry this is not on the op, however, surly it is a general question; if your car suddenly sounds like a loud boy racer, its more than likely that the exhaust has a hole. i do not need the make, model and life story to tell you that

anyway, im sorry but from the experience we have had dealing with DMtech in our shop, i wish you the very best of luck!!

I'm assuming here that you work in a shop that either sells or repairs TV's? If so- have you ever come across anything like this with an LCD TV?

Also if it was sold by PC World then usually DSG have a repair arrangement via TechGuys (formerly Mastercare) as their in-house repair agent. Might be easiest to get them to take a look
