"Paper clip" symbol on recording schedule
RoyS
19-12-2007
I have just installed a new Humax (my second) and made my first recording reservation via the EPG. On both the EPG and the recording schedule entry, there is a symbol I don't remember seeing before - sort of like two linked paper clips.

I can find no reference to it in the manual - can anyone tell me what it is??

Many thanks - Roy

It indicates auto-tracking (which is in 1.00.15 and .20) which means the programme will record when the broadcaster says it is on, rather than at the times stated in the guide. (It doesn't mean the broadcaster supports it, it'll record at the times in the guide regardless of when it actually airs).

I think it's meant to be a chain link, but the new symbols are a bit rubish.

My new pvr9200 has a single sheet Programme Guide which says the symbol is Auto Tracking. Displayed only when the auto tracking function is performed.
Auto tracking can track the changes of the reserved programme and keep the reservation.

Thanks a lot for the help. I've found the sheet of paper and, yes, it is indeed the auto-tracking symbol.

I really must learn to read the instructions before I start!

Best wishes - Roy

I think that's accurate recording

It is but it's confusing - looks like a chain link and therefore makes one think of series link! They could have chosen a less ambiguous symbol for accurate recording.

Like a bloke scratching his head wondering why the start/end of his recording is missing?

I'd have said the way series link is(n't) indicated is more confusing: the symbol is always for a one-off recording, outside of the schedule there is no sign of it being a series recording (just that series link is availible for that programme) .

Series link is indicated by the stacked boxes symbol.
