Does anyone have any suggestions for :-

LCD tv
With Freeview built in
£200 or less
Widescreen format preferably

The tv is only for the bedroom so not looking for the top of the range particularly

freeview built in isnt a necessity but more a 'would like to have'

I can always buy a freeview box for £30 or whatever the going rate is

I saw some lovely Swisstec ones in Curry's. The one i wanted was £189 and was a 19in with digital tuner and hd ready..but they only had the display model left and the box in the backroom had a 'bagsied' note on it

So I've ended getting a Goodman 20in lcd tv with digital tuner. unfortunately not hd ready but is widescreen and was £230 from Comet. As the tv's only for the kids bedroom i'm ok about it not having HD - only prob is if ever they get a PS3 the bloke said it won't be compatible but if that ever happens i'll have their tv and just buy another one.

If you can stretch to £234, you can get an LG 19" with hd connection and freeview tuner, at Dixons with free delivery. Picture resolution is really good for this price.

If it has to be £199 then Currys have loads of 19" lcd's on shelf for that price but contrast resolutions will be worse than LG. There are also 19" technica (own brand) at tesco's for £199, web has price of hd ready version at 199.

As you were saying you'd consider a stb that would take you to £234 so I'd go for LG if I was you. Some reviews say sound is a bit tinny, but it'll be better than the £199 stuff I bet.
I suppose its known name verses unknown cheapie, choice is yours.

In new year I'll be getting LG for bedroom and a panasonic dvd/hd recorder for living room, providing santa brings me some cash!

Happy Christmas everyone

I thought OP wanted 19" lcd

I suspect sales will throw up lots of bargains over next 2 weeks, its just a case of whether you can be bothered to face the crowds.

Argos have a HD ready Samsung 19" Tv for £199. No freeview, but you can always buy a box pretty cheap.

My daughter has this one and I can vouch for its picture quality, both analogue TV through its tuner and digital via an STB.

Well there is also this

http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Produc...29%3D19.19.htm

It doesn't have Freeview, but it is only £145 and is again HD Ready. You can buy Freeview from the same place for £15

http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Produc...2Bfreeview.htm

which is still only £160 which is still cheaper than some TV's with Freeview built in.
