How to cook Beansprouts?

Apart from Stir-frying them? Can you boil them or microwave them for instance, and then freeze them down? I am having to feed them to my little bantam, he actually likes them raw, but they go off and slimy within a couple of days, and I have to chuck over half of them away. Don't want to fry them really and make them all greasy for him (he's a poorly chook)

You can freeze them. Wash them and then steam for 3 minutes. Rinse under cold water, then bag up and freeze.

Works very well.

I think it was Ken Hom that said Chinese people don't stir fry raw beansprouts, they blanch them first.

Since switching to blanching them I can tell you they definitely taste better.
