That's a shame about broad beans, as done right, they are amazing.

I grow them so I get to cheat, but the reason why they never taste the same from supermarkets is that they are too old. You need to pick them young, blanch them, and freeze them. All done as quickly as possible to preserve the sugar. They are completely different to shop-bought stuff.

I've turned into my grandad.

I actually tried some dried salted ones in Portugal and liked them so maybe the dislike its left over from over boiled old ones from school days, maybe I should give them another go, one day.

Fish or any seafood: In fact the thought that it has or did have eyes, fins, scales, a tail or shell and lived under the sea and smells of the sea gives me the creeps. I can't even watch it being prepared and cooked on the television.
Also offal I wouldn't eat liver as a child and would never ever try it now even if cooked by a top class chef in a top class restaurant.

All sauces, except mint and HP brown.
Blancmange.
Custard.
All tinned soups except Heinz Vegetable.
I think it's a texture thing.

Husband's dislikes are grapefruit, and marzipan (otherwise known as the 'devil's fetid smegma')

Oh, thanks for that - phew! that's alright then, I love coriander! I thought it was going to be something hideous like the other stuff that Stud mentioned in his post!

Oooh I absolutely adore broad beans! Haven't thought about having any for ages, I've just added them to my Christmas food list!

mushrooms, all stems from being made to eat mushroom soup when i was about 8, i was supposed to get chicken but my dad gave me the wrong stuff and i knew it was wrong but he was insistent that it was chicken
so now cant eat mushrooms, if i know theres mushrooms in something then i avoid it, the works canteen gets peed off with me asking does it have mushrooms in it, my mum gets peed off having to read ingredients lol

I can't stand anything from the sea, it makes me gag just looking at it and smelling it, so there's no way I'd consider eating the stuff. I avoid the fish and meat counters in supermarkets like the plague, it's the smell and blood and guts everywhere. I couldn't prepare raw meat bleeding everywhere. *gag* Apart from that I don't really have any food phobias, I'm just fussy with my food.

Hate list:

Strong cheese's that smell like feet, I only like cheddar, red leicester and the cheese with pickled onions in.
Food spicier than onions.
I like mushroom soup, but not actual mushrooms, and I like tomato soup and tomato sauce, but don't like tomatoes themselves. (Tomato sauce and the BBQ sauce from McDonald's being the only sauces I like. Oh and gravy if that counts).
Seafood (as explained above).
Poultry.
I don't really like much of the other meats either, the only meat I like is, ham, corned beef, steak, beef burger, bacon, gammon, minced beef, and sausage. Even then the meat has to be cremated so I don't I have my dinner swimming in blood and I have to cut the fat off the bacon and gammon.

I find it really sad when people dislike fruits and vegetables so strongly. Most of the time I think it's because they haven't had them cooked properly, or because supermarkets don't sell really fresh/good quality ones any more.

Brussels sprouts, cooked properly, are wonderful!

I was a very very very fussy eater as a child and teenager, and then suddenly somehow I started eating everything. I can't think of any fruit or veg that I wouldn't eat now. I'm not keen on asparagus, but I would eat it quite happily if someone served it to me. I don't like the sound of tripe or liver or other offal, but I'm sure I could eat it if necessary. I've never actually tasted it, but it looks vile. To be honest though, I'd rather eat fresh liver or tripe or something cooked well by someone who knows what they're doing, than KFC or a doner kebab...

Kippers, the smell and the bones, yuck.

I also can't stand brussel sprouts, cabbage, parsnips, lentins and barley. Tripe, black pudding, squid, mussels, eel, whelks and crab are things I'd not like to try again.

Bananas. Just the smell of these vile abominations will make me physically sick. *shudders at the thought*

Ditto, and so glad to see I'm not alone. They are truly Satan's vegetables!

I have a fear of all rubbery seafood but especially squid after I accidentally ate a piece of it in a paella when I lived in Spain. Because it was dyed yellow by the saffron in the paella rice, I assumed it was yellow pepper. Until I put it in my mouth and my jaw ricoched off it.

I just cannot believe people buy those tubs of 'seafood salad' which are all full of tentacles and suckers and stuff. They look like something from a sci-fi movie.

Me too! And yet I can remember that I quite happily ate mashed banana and sugar sandwiches as a young child!

Yogurt. Revolting rotted milk gunge.

Most seafood like whelks, prawns, shrimps, winkles. Oysters in particular - it must be like swallowing a mouthful of fishy snot
.

Avocado - I'll eat any fruit known to man but this is just hideous.

Any poncey rubbish like caviar, foie gras, pheasant. Expensive garbage.

Artichoke - again, I'll eat any vegetable but this is just yuk.

Any stinking cheese especially French rubbish.”

Eugh! Vile, slimy fruit... I can't even stand the smell of them.

Calamari is revolting too - why anyone would want to eat something with the taste and texture of used, boiled tractor tyres is beyond me

Onions have always made me nauseous with smell of them, if I eat them I do become sick to my stomach. About the only time I can eat onions is diced really really finely and in mince dishes (Spag Bol, mince & tatties, etc). The other flavours mask the taste, while the smallness of the onion removes the texture.
