How to empty an iPod

Quick question, hope someone can help.

I've just sold an iPod on Ebay, and am shipping it tomorrow. Do I have to empty it of the music I have stored on it (and if so, how do I do that?) , or will that happen automatically when the new owner plugs it into her PC & synches it with her stored music files?

Strictly speaking, you should.

But .... I imagine plenty people selling them second hand on ebay don't. You'd be very unlucky to end up selling to someone who would try and get you in trouble for not wiping it.

If you want to blank it .... can you not just do a factory reset or something?

I'm sure an iPod-dy person will tell you which buttons to hold down to do it .....

Thanks. As it happens, an hour or so after posting, I dug out the instructions, and it was easy after that!
