Let's hope not. I have no problem with Jennifer (mumble through my teeth) Saunders appearing. But I have huge problems with the Rani returning

Is The Rani returning? Didn't she die with the rest of the Gallifreyans in the time war?

I don't know if it was the character of the Rani, or the way she was clearly second class compared with The Master, or the way she was acted by Kate O'Mara but I never warmed to the character at all. The thought of her coming back leaves me completely cold.

I would like to bet that

a) Jennifer Saunders will not be appearing in DW

b) The Rani will not be appearing in DW

Just what the show needs right now, a mumbling monotone voiced person to play The Rani.

....But at least she's a popular celebrity, so she ticks the box.

I think Zoe Lucker (as previously rumoured) would make a great Rani, as long as she played her in the style of Tanya Turner!

Imagine her with those long nails, cigerette delicately held in a shaking hand screaming at the Doctor "Bastaaaaaaaaaaaard!"

The biggest problem was the stories were so bad and came at a time when the show was pitiful. But we really don't need such a lame ass character as the Rani back. I have never understood why people keep banging on about her

The quote on Radio 2 said that Jennifer Saunders was going to play the first female time lord. I may be wrong but wasnt the first female time lord in Dr Who, Romana?

Maybe shes going to play Romana?

Obviously as The Doctor is now established to be Jesus, the first female time lord was Eve. Maybe Jennifer Saunders is going to play Eve?

It's casting like that that worries me about RTD. He seems to keep wanting to push the comedy element all the time.

Jennifer Saunders was good as the Fairy Godmother in Shrek 2, so there is a possibility she wouldn't be completely awful.

If it happens that is, which is doubtful.
