I have just got one of the refurbed pvr80 from ebuyer ,but although the picture quality is not to bad the recording is rubbish.I'm fairly sure this is down to weak signal.Question is do i send it back and get a more expensive/better one,or will i still have the same problem.

IS the picture acceptable when watching live?
It could be the loop through cable at the back is loose or disconnected.

The PVR80 have two tuners connected by a small coaxial lead from one to the other. Sometimes this connection is poor. I seen two solutions - get a better connector cable or feed both aerial connectors from a booster.

Yes the picture is ok live.I have just bypassed the first tuner and plugged the ariel lead into the second/record tuner and recorded something and i get a much better picture so its definetley the signal so maybe i'd be better off getting a new connector and a booster
as its quite a good box for the price(£45.24).
Can anyone recomend a resonabley price booster?

Or you coukd get a cheap booster from Argos, I have one of the PVR80 and a Wharfdale 160GB,TUTVA PVR, 3 other STB all running of one aerial, with cheap coax and I do not have problems, don't waste money on boosters from maplins, buy a cheap one from argos, this is what I have http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Produc...2Bboosters.htm
they are small and the psu is outside the unit so they dont get to hot

I replaced the silly little loop cable on my box with a good quality one I made from CT125. It makes an amazing difference.
