Has anyone an opinion on the Philips WACS7000 system?

Awful. Reliability IS abysmal. Would not suggest it to anyone.

Do you need a system that will store music on an internal hard drive as the WACS does?

I used to work for Philips consumer products. We all loved the idea of the WACS when launched about 2 yrs ago but I thought the sound quality was poor at the time. Too low a bit rate on ripped CDs and the speakers left something to be desired. OK by £150 micro-system standards but that's all.

Things may have improved for the WACS since, but so has the market.

When you compare WACS to a thoroughly thought out product like Sonos you start to see how it's done right. Admittedly Sonos is a different and it has no internal storage, but it just works, and it's beautiful to use. Spend the extra, you won't regret it.

Regards
