Michelin Starred Restaurants
Ever been to one? Did you think it was worth it?
Personally i've been to 4 different ones, would say 3 were definitely worth it but one was disappointing as it was a bit too 'Heston-ed' for my liking. |

Been to 2. Waste of money and just an excuse to charge silly money.

I ate at the 'Fatduck' resaurant in Bray this week. It was the works lunch and I have to say it was among the best food I have ever eaten. My venison main was incredible. However I didn't pay as it was a work thing (it cost £120 a head with only 1 glass of champagne as i was driving). It may not have tasted so good if i had paid!

Well it does guarantee eating food from a chef cooking at the best of his abilities. Whether you like the food or not is another matter but the quality cannot be argued with else they lose their rating pretty swiftly.
I have eaten at a few and yes it was worth it. |

I visited Simpsons in Birmingham just before it got its star. Excellent food, not overly pretentious, and beautifully cooked.
Not scandalously expensive either considering. I keep saying I will go back, but never get round to it |

Have eaten in about 5 M- starred restaurants and don't have one single complaint. Next stop is Petrus. Can't wait.

Been to several over the years the Michelin Stars generally give you an idea what to expect though overly fancy food is sometimes on offer
I once went to a 3 star in Paris for Lunch and the thing that was most memorable was that when we sat down little stools were brought for the ladies hand bags (more memorable than the food - though that was excellent). Many years ago I went to a PR event that was at a 3 Star in London which was fun especially as it was my birthday but it cause amusement when I turned up for dinner and was told we were going out for a surprise as it was my Birthday. a 2 Star for dinner - didn't need to eat again for some time. The odd thing about the stars these days are the ones that don't get them but seem to bood enough. I have a faviurite returant in the North of France where the food we all think is woth a star (and it is better now than when it did have a star mnay years ago). Last summer had lunch there shortly after it had been written up in the Sunday Times by Gordon Ramsay who sang its praises. we asked the chef/patron what he thought of Gordon and he said he didn't know he was even in the resturant. Anyway my sons favourite at this resturant is the way with coffee they bring mini candy floss. |
