I think it's entirely fair to say that the vitriol has gone overwhelmingly one way. I say this as someone who last Saturday didn't mind which of Matt and Gethin got through, so long as Alesha did.”
I will happily put my hand up about the 'smug' comment - but I didn't say he
was smug - I said he
LOOKED smug (subtle difference) and, in context, it was when the dance-off was announced. Frankly, if I'd just been handed out four tens and faced a dance-off, I'd look smug - so that isn't the personal attack it's just been interpreted as. OK?!
And, for the record, there has been a lot of thinly veiled attacks on Gethin - some of it, I suspect, fuelled by Matt's own immature taunts ("Well, if Gethin wants a fight, he's got one"). Those comments were broadcast the week Matt came unstuck - a case of karma, perhaps? Thankfully, he seems to have abandoned that.
If there's vitriol required, can we please direct it appropriately, i.e. at the producers and the judges? Like most other posters here, I don't want to see intelligent debate reduced to playground name-calling ...
