If it's the Saturday dances that matter why have the lines been open since the weekend?

If people vote on the quality of the final dances why are they casting votes at this point? It makes no sense.

UNLESS (da da da!) a lot of "fans" aren't actually that bothered about the dancing and are just turning this into a "sexiest bum" competition.

I shan't vote at all unless I see a spectacular and will vote for one or both depending upon their performance.

I don't think true lovers of dance (rather than celeb-followers) will be taking a position at this stage. How can one?

Because it's a light entertainment show, with the side purpose of raising funds for charity from phone votes.

This issue has been raised in other forums many times.

Apparently all the lines weren't open every day since the start. Only the lines for dancers with sexy bums were open before the Saturday of each week.

I don't know who decided which dancers had sexy bums, nor which dancers they felt made the grade. I think we should be told, then we could all argue with their decision and question their knowledge and prior experience of pertness, cheek shape etc.

Not sure about the sexy bum competition but if you're talking dreamy eyes and flirty smile as well, of course, as beautiful hands that's another thing....goes off to vote.

I only vote during the week, because in my house it's only allowed when Claudia Winkelman says "badger". And she never says it on a Saturday.

You could take a position having seen 14 (and I'll bet I've forgotten 1 or 2) dances.

Oh, the pro bums! Tightened and tautened by years of dancing...

(Why isn't there a 'drool' smiley?)

It's enough to drive a poor girl scatty. How can I choose! Do I go for the next bum I see? Is it possible to vote for Claudia?

And the judges? Well wouldn't be surprised if that Craig hasn't got a cute bum. Worth uncovering the 10 paddle for!

Well, I think it's a good thing. Otherwise, everyone would only have about an hour to vote and the phone lines break down and you get the whole 'I couldn't get through, it's a FIX' drama.

Does it really matter who wins? Who gets to the final, that matters, because the longer they stay in, the more dances you see by that person - that matters. You vote for who you want to see dance next week. But whoever wins on Saturday, they all stop dancing straight afterwards. It's just a glitterball. It's a completely meaningless title. Whatever career opportunities Alesha or Matt D are going to get from this, they're going to get anyway. Matthew and Flavia will get duffer contestants next year either way. Matt and Flavia will dance on the tour and Alesha and Matthew won't, either way. Maybe the winner is more likely to be on next year's Christmas special than the runner-up, but they can have the runner-up if they want to. To me, this is the one week where the bias or unfairness of the voting matters the least. Sorry if this is sounding like a rant, but it is a serious question - does it matter? If you don't want to vote, just don't vote - enjoy spending the money on something else. Let people who want to, vote, and leave them enjoy it.

I don't think your post sounds like a rant at all. You make very reasonable points.

I suppose the lines are open to ensure continuity as they have been since the begining of the competition. It allows people to vote a hundred times a week for their favourite 'bum'

What would you think of Vincent's bum? All that AT dancing must have made it quite pert.

All this reminds me of a something from that TV show Hi de Hi set in a holiday camp where they played the guess that bum competition?

No, Vincent's bum is OK but not in the Waite league I'm afraid...

I'm a bit of a connoisseur in these matters, one of my interests on Facebook is listed as "men's bottoms"

I'll bow to your superior knowledge.

So , as an expert how do you rate Matt's bum. Looked pretty good to me but I'm usually looking at his lovely hands-honestly-that's old age for you.
