.. Rhydian's duet with KJ as really good. I thought it was dreadful the first time and that she had ruined it for him.

I have just listened and watched in on my laptop from
http://www.stage6.com/X-Factor-2007/...al-Show-Part-3

I was steeling myself to endure it but I actually loved it.

I have no idea why. Could be the fact that I as expectign somthing different the first time, or that it sounds different than from the TV.

The duet itself has kinda been done to death (and I was part of it) but I wondered do other people change their minds on second watching. Do you enjoy things more or less.

Which perfomances if any did you change your mind about?

Good question. There were some which either improved or became less good on a second listen but I can't think of any where I changed my mind completely.

I changed my mind of The Long And Winding Road by Leon. The first time I heard it, I thought it was a dull song and was really dissapointed but it's now my new favourite.

Other mentions..
Total Eclipse Of The Heart
Any Dream Will Do
Phantom Of The Opera
Back To Black

You are right. I also thought it was awful the first time but watching it again, it's good. How very strange!

It's like when you hear a song on the radio for the first time. Sometimes it jumps right out at you, sometimes it takes a good few listens.

Rhydian's performances:-

I preferred 'Go West' the second time I listened to it as the first time I was probably distracted by all the male dancers. I also enjoyed 'Somebody To Love' better on second hearing.

I actually liked the duet during the show , and I now really like the mp3 of it. I think that their voices complement each other well. KJ has a high pitched voiced that's toned down by Rhydian's.
As for changing my mind, I did with Go West.

TRIPE!! listened to it again, sounded as awful, as the first time I heard it... maybe it's been digitally enhanced and edited, and pumffed around to sound better..

Katherine Jenkins ruined that song for Rhydian, and let's not forget it. He deserved to win, and she ruined his big night!

She's a professional squuuueaaaalller....lol

I think this is why...I certainly wasn't expecting her voice to sound quite like that. Thought she'd make it sound more like a typical pop diva belter (Mariah or Whitney) instead she went with an operatic sound which was jarring at first.

It **definitely** improves on multiple viewings! I did always love the chemistry between them though.

Edited to add: Definitely Go West improved for me. The first time I was just open-mouthed that they'd gone so high-camp. Second viewing I realized how great his vocal was and now I prefer it to some of his slower songs.

I find Rhydian's performances sound better and better the more I listen. He did miss one note he went for in the duet but I will forgive him that one mistake in all the shows.

Found a Sarah Brightman video of O Holy night on Youtube and sorry but she yodels more than Katherine only higher.
