I was just wondering, has there been any mention of Leon's dad at all throughout XF, either on the show or on message boards?

His name is Simon, and he left the family alone some time ago in order to start a music business...

I remember reading it in my paper after Leon started in XFactor....... His dad (Philip) left home when Leon was two years old and he never heard any more until two years ago when he was admitted to a hospital with a bad strain of flu and sadly, after being in intensive care for over a week, at just 39 years of age he passed away!

Really? - how sad. Well good on Leon for not using that as a sob story.

Exactly... I never once heard him say anything about his dad!

I don't think he would have wanted to. His dad left him when he was 2 - I'm sure he would hope things had been different, but I doubt that the man's death had any great impact on his life.

No it's true QM. I think I've seen you on Eton Road's Thread. See you there.

I read the other day that Leon's dad left the family home when Leon was only 2 years old, and he never saw him again. His dad died a few years ago from the flu. A family member turned up at Leon's door to tell his mum that he was dead.

They put about their history in their applications, and the producers use every single word for the show in one way or another

Because there were a lot of offensive comments posted, one of which you quoted in your post., I think.

Also, the discussion had gotten quite off topic when I signed off the board last night.

Well the mods could have removed the quote, or asked me to.

I don't disagree with that...and there are a lot more threads that could do with cleaning up.

Ah this thread has cleared it up. I read in the paper one day his dad died of flu and the next they said he left when Leon was 2. Two conflicting stories but both are true!

he just used the
'comming from a single parent family'

' my mum sacrificed everything for me'

' my dad left my mum an I alone'

'I want to give my mum a better life'

ones instead

He actually didn't mention his dad throughout the show.
And I belive that is exactly why the Op was asking ask about him should further proof be required. At the end of the day, he wanted to do well for his mum. Same as Shayne Ward. But apparently people have selective memorys...

But as Aesa says, not once did he mention his father in any kind of context.
