I've just hooked up the following components:

Pioneer LX608A Plasma (HDMI 1.3)
Denon AV2808 Receiver (HDMI 1.3)
Pioneer 400V-S DVD Player (HDMI 1.2)

The DVD player is connected to the receiver, which in turn is connected to the plasma - all with HDMI cables.

Watching a dvd las tnight on it though the picture keeps freezing then slowl progressing then freezing again. The DVD player then just stops and powers down after nothing happens for a while.

What could be causing the picture freeze.

As a test of the location of the issue, connect the DVD player directly to the TV via HDMI and conncet the DVD digital audio to the receiver.

If problem persists, it's the player, if it goes away suggest you keep this arrangement - could never see why users put video through an AV amp when only one device connected, I always use the TV directly and control via AV setting on Tv and use amp for audio.

I did that and it looks like it is the DVD player. I've actually hooked up my xbox360 as the DVD player for now and it's fine.

To sort the DVD player, get a cleaning disk - they work well.
