Specifications for Tiscali TV Box vs Tesley
ched999uk
21-12-2007
It appears from a few postings and MK Brett that the Tiscali TV box is made by Telsey, its spec is a Tiscali spec not the spec on Tesleys site. So I was wondering if Tiscali could give people a bit more of a technical clue about its box. This might help lots of people to actually know what to expect. i.e does the hdmi work, does it output 574,720,1080 etc, does the optical out work, what connections are available, what future upgrades are being investigated, ok maybe the last one might cause problems, but you get the idea??? Then the spec sheets could be on Tiscali's site for all to see.

Excellent idea! Detailed sprecs would help owners of the current FS6 STB and also those considering ordering the new PVR.

I'm afraid this won't be forthcoming.
Accept is for what it is please.

I know this is a bit like being told not to put your toast in the VCR, but hey ho!

I think the lack of any technical info anywhere relating to all three of the current boxes ( i'm including the old Homechoice box as thats what a lot of us would be changing from) is the main reason for so many posts on this forum and people asking so many questions.

In this day and age people are a lot more technically aware and to push a product with no data available to the customer regarding what they are actually going to put under the tv is shoddy at best but as an old Homechoice customer that to me is Tiscali all over, but like many others i have no choice but to stay as it's the only form if digital tv i can get and boy do i wish it wasn't

If you don't publish a spec, you can't be expected to ensure that the equipment supplied meets that specification.

Says it all really

There is a team here that does this. Doesn't mean I'll put it on here does it. The STB we use for or TTV service is more than adequate for the job.

MK_Brett: Please dont take my post as an insult, you have been very helpful on the forums. All I was trying to do was to enable both current users and potential users to see what the current boxes are doing. For example you say in your spec above S/PDIF digital audio, well although the box has the capability I dont think it has the software to support this at the moment.
All I was trying to do was help people and maybe even get Tiscali more customers by giving them answers about the box if I could. Sometimes especially with new products some customer service staff get the wrong end of the stick.
I had a very long conversation with a very helpful American chap in technical support when my box was installed. The reason was that the engineer who installed the box said that he thought (due to weight) that my box was a Tiscali+ box ( I hadent ordered one). So I rang to see if I could pay the £50 and Tiscali could switch it to work as a PVR. At first he said that the Tiscali+ boxes wern't out, then he checked with a few people and said that they were out. Eventually he worked out that I do have a Tiscali+ box but he couldn't find out how to make the recording work!!
Sometimes people just want specs and want to know what the box can do, picys of connections, remote that sort of thing. So far I have had about 5 private messages from people who asked to view my network diagram of how my system is set up as they already have wireless networks and want to work out if they can integrate a Tiscali Router and Tiscali TV to their network.

On my box only the Scart labeled TV Out outputs RGB. It doesnt apear to accept RGB in on the VCR In scart and retransmit it to TV Out scart when box is on or off.

Sorry for a long post, but I think your input to this forum is VERY helpful THANKS.
