HP iPaq RW6828
I got one of these today and I'm having trouble setting up WLAN. I can't seem to enter the WPA key right with the tricky on screen keyboard. Is there a way to either show the key as it's entered or paste it in? It's running Windows Mobile 5.

There often isn't, but take your time and get used to the OSK, they are quite fiddly.

Got the key in correctly. Another problem now. It's just saying 'Connecting' constantly.

I'm getting somewhere. I had it connected before but after I fiddled with a few settings in IE Mobile it reverted back to it's 'Connecting' state. If I look in the WiFi area it connects but isn't assigned an IP address so it disconnects.

Mhm, and the ipaq is in range?
Tried contacting HP? Never had any issues with mine and wifi (apart from it not supporting WPA2) but mine is older. It could be dodgy...

Make sure 'Power Save Mode' is set to best performance and not econ made, otherwise it will have problem connecting to your WLAN.
I remember I had the same problem when I had my ipaq and trying to set up WLAN at home, I couldn't get it to connect with my router until I moved the slider to maximum. |

Remember that it is case sensitive. If you have a really long key that is hard to type in, then paste it into a text file and copy that over to the PDA, then open it on the PDA, and copy and paste that into the window that asks for the key. You could also try disabling all security and trying to connect to the unsecured access point. Just so that you know the wifi on the PDA isnt faulty. -Chris |

Are you sure you got the key in correctly ? It will sit on "Connecting" forever, and sometimes think it is connected even if youve got the key wrong.

PDA Box says 'NOT INTENDED FOR SALE IN EUROPE'. |

Mustn't be too hard to fix if one WiFi works. |

Yes actually. UK Seller, 100% Positive Feedback, Box not opened and brand new. More features than any other PDA on there and a complete bargain for £150.

Right. It works unsecured. After securing it though, it goes back to it's 'Connecting' state

Shortening the WPA key to 10 characters also works.

No, just WPA. Don't want to shorten the WPA if possible for security reasons. I'll keep trying. If I need to I'll shorten it until it works.
