Help! I'm confused! Apologies if this question has been asked in another thread.

Two of the five dances in the final are the best ballroom and the best latin. When Matt and Flavia were shown practising they were doing the American Smooth but they got 40 marks for the Waltz....see where I'm going with this?! Why aren't they doing the waltz?

They're not allowed to do dances they did in the semifinals. And one can see why - won't be a huge challenge as they'll easily remember the routines, and the dances will be too fresh in the viewers minds.

Are they actually not allowed? I was never sure... do they say that for definite?

Though I think a dance could lose its impact if it's been seen only one week beforehand. Even though I'd love to see A&M QS again in many ways!

It appears so - Alesha replied to a friend of mine (on facebook) who wrote to her congratulating her on getting through to the final and suggested the quickstep. She (Alesha) said they couldn't do it as they did it for the semis.

Ahhh right! I've never been sure before (although it makes sense!) so good to have it confirmed

Also it's not actually 'best' ballroom and latin - they don't have to do the one they scored most marks on, they can pick whatever they want.

Yes, it's 'favourite' rather than 'best'.
