I went to see Cinderella at the Regent in Stoke tonight (please don't tell anyone I laughed my ass off because Jonathon Wilkes was REALLY funny ... who'd have thought? I never would. I thought he was a mong, but anyway ...) and Shobna from Coronation Street and Cinders sang Leon's song as the big Act 1 finale - the panto's been on since about the 11th of December.

Coinkidink? I fink not.

It seems like everyone's done a version of it, I hope Shobna's phone lines weren't jammed ...lol

So - to misquote another thread who's version of When You Believe do you prefer - Mariah Carey's or Shobna from Coronation Street's?

I don't watch Corrie so I knew her from a documentary about her family she produced earlier this year. Corrie's mentioned in the program. She's Indian, from Lancashire and is also a comedienne. Link here

Shobna! Easy choice. No warbling, trilling or showcasing.

Can someone do a mash up of Rhyd's, Leon's and Shobna's version so we can judge which one's the best

She was married to Dev from the Corner Shop, can't remember her character's name, but she had twins and left him as he had a girlfriend in each one of his shops, and enough kids to start a nursery.

ETA ... her character was Sunitta ... not to be confused with Sinitta, who has probably also recorded a version of When You Believe

Isn't Leon's story a bit like Cinderella's i.e. rags to riches with Dannii as the fairy godmother, Dermot as Prince Charming, Sharon as the evil step mother and Louis and Simon as the two ugly sisters.

So Leon's going to end up letting Dermot make sweet love to him forever?!

Dermot presented Leon with the golden slipper - i.e. Leon's winning CD cover which only Leon's CD fits.

Trust people to see sexual conurtations in everything.

Last weekend I was really cheeky and kept calling Kylie Cinderella seeing as she was wearing rags and has an ugly sister....

Leon'd be a good before, and Rhydian'd be a good after, in terms of the transformation, if you know wha5 I mean (not really a dig, just that Rhyd's more polished after years of training, neither here nor there really although I personally prefer him, good luck to Leon.)

As for the song being used in the panto, it was known in advance that WYB would be the winners' single, that's probably why it was included.

I wonder if any of this year's finalists will be in panto themselves next year? (I like panto, and have been in one, so again that's not a dig - I doubt it'd be one of the higher placed finalists anyway)

Oh, and I liked Shobna on Soapstar Superstar - I bet she does a good WYB actually!
