Worried about Alesha's show dance

From ITT last night: it's very, very fast.

I love Alesha & think she deserves to win, but I'm afraid that they may have not made the best choice. Len looked a bit worried when he saw it & heard the music, & so did I.

Her footwork is her main weakness & whether it's because she has, as Arlene says "lazy legs", or whether it's just because they're so long it's harder to get round the steps, for me her foot-work has not always been perfect on the fast dances.

If I were her I would have chosen something energetic but not quite such a frenetic tempo.

Maybe I'm concerned un-necessarily. What do peeps think?

I wouldn't let what Len looks like or says bother you. I think it is going to be great. Have faith.

Honestly, it really doesn't matter if her footwork is off in the showdance, as long as it looks good. The judges aren't marking it or really doing much about it at all, it's at the end of the show, and the average viewer isn't even going to know it's wrong.

I agree, to me it looks like it is going to be fun to watch, and Alesha will enjoy doing it. I think as long as it looks fun, and they enjoy theirsevles, it should be brilliant I for one can't wait to see it.

That's how I feel about the Cha-Cha.

Alesha's Ch-Cha is by far the best dance of the series (IMO) it makes you want to get up and dance.

I'm not worried about what Len thinks, I'm worried about what I think.

The prize pretty much stands or falls on the show dance...

Hence: "The average viewer isn't even going to know what's wrong."

Are the judges the average viewer? They thought it was 39 worthy.

Yeah, but the judges have not come out of this series with a great deal of respect, and that score is one of the many reasons why.

That's true. Though, people do go on about Len's marking going downhill... they seem to forget that he gave Fiona a bunch of 6s It's never been right!

I think that 6 for Fiona's rumba was the beginning of the end..
But don't forget, Len did wave his 3 card once for Quentin's Cha-Cha.

I'm not bothered - I genuinely think most people have made up their minds by now and tonights dances aren't going to change that

COME ON ALESHA

If you are a worrier (like me), I think that's the best advice you'll ever hear.

I'm a bit scared!! If it goes wrong it will go wrong big style. If she had neater and more precise footwork I wouldn't be worried, but as that's her weakness I wonder whether she'll pull it off...

If it starts to go amiss, I doubt we'll even notice - Alesha & Matthew are great at selling a performance, and they train for hours to get the basic steps down - they have winged it at least twice in the series (once for twenty seconds in a ninety second routine!). They haven't had a bad week yet and if anyone's going to melt down its Matt - he's had some pretty poor weeks, the worst of which he went blank twice.

And I think Len had wind on ITT last night.

Actually I think it was more than twenty seconds. The part where they go wrong is at about 1:13 in a 1:42 routine. Makes it 29 secs, give or take

That's where I'm at.

I'd have liked something that show-cased her strengths better.

But hey ho, it's too late now.

'Scuse me for being ignorant, but when was the second time they winged it? (I know the first was the Foxtrot). Was it in the Samba, or the VW? (Or neither?)

The Paso Doble. Watch it on the BBC site - everything from about 1:13 to 1:42 (the end) was made up on the spot.

Tbh I thought they may have done the same but it must be difficult for them knowing they cant do the sort of lifts the public have got used to seeing and expecting over the last couple of years. A romantic ballroom medley or similar just wouldnt have the same impact unfortunately.

I don't think the judges have ever commented on anyone's technique after a showdance.

Alesha will sell it and I expect it to be *fierce* (or else I'll be bitterly disappointed). Plus I don't think Matthew would choreograph something they couldn't pull off.
