Worried about Alesha's show dance

As other have said footwork/technique isn't that important, especially as it's not being marked, and it is their dance. It's a showdance i.e. a dance they've made up, with emphasis on show! I'm just anticipating a wild, bonkers routine with paso, tango, disco and dirty dancing bits in it, plus a few drags, drops and lifts. The music's brilliant and as (unlike the regular dances) I don't know what steps to expect, I'm just going to relax and enjoy what will be their last dance, at least for a while!

Thanks for reminding me. I should have known that.

I know it's not being marked so bad technique won't lose them points, but if your steps aren't spot on you'll lose the rhythm. It's not all about pleasing the judges, it's about doing the dance right.

Her footwork is her main weakness & whether it's because she has, as Arlene says "lazy legs", or whether it's just because they're so long it's harder to get round the steps, for me her foot-work has not always been perfect on the fast dances.

If I were her I would have chosen something energetic but not quite such a frenetic tempo.

Maybe I'm concerned un-necessarily. What do peeps think? ”

How can you judge from the few bars that were shown on ITT and they played Bonnie Tylers track not the Band doing the track so how do you know what tempo it would be - Alesha has had a COUPLE of foot faults and people seem to think everything she does has them it doesnt AND in showdance there is no technique so therefore no faults to be had

Frankly I use the Tyler track as SLOW disco dont find it that fast at all - Matt Cutler is a great Choreographer I think we will find the routine will be fine. As it is showdance there is no technique so no correct placement of feet either in heel or toe so that wont apply - neither will the rythm thing apply from feet posiitoning either

I beg to differ. It's about pleasing the crowd. The judges aren't marking the showdance and average viewer isn't going to notice small mistakes whatever they are. This one more than any other is about who performs best and who people enjoy the most.

Then again any decent teacher would work to the weakness (I would) and make the footwork simple and as it doesnt have to conform to a laid down dance technique that is relatively easy to do

They showed part of Alesha and Matthew's show dance just now on BBC News 24, it was looking good. Plus they showed one of the lifts which looked good as I was getting worried when Alesha said Matt was struggling to lift her as (she said) she was quite heavy.

Karen was all dolled up ready for tonight as well.
