Ok I have a 500gb media player with a D-type 15 pin connection as well as a small jack to scart type connection too!
I have a PC input on my TV and would like to know if I can link this so i can watch HD content?

Does the media player support HD?

Presuming the media player, whatever it is, can playback typical x264 HD videos at 720p in a Matroska .mkv container (since most of them are this from torrents) then it should be just a case of connecting them together with a VGA cable, assuming your TV's PC input is indeed a VGA port - one of these: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VGA_connector

It would also be necessary for this media player to be able to output in either the TV's native resolution, or at least one of the HD resolutions, otherwise you won't get proper HD out of it.

If you have an HDTV with D-SUB (15 pin VGA) then the simple answer is yes you can, try downloading some sample clips from Windows Media Player section of Microsoft website, try 720p stuff first.
