Hello

This is my first post here but I need some advice about my new Sony KDL32S3000 - 32''.

I'm an oldie and for my 'big' birthday last week my son and his wife bought me the new TV and set it all up for me.

I've noticed that when I switch the televsion on from stand-by there is a high pitched sound coming from the rear of the screen, I think where all the mechanics are. It isn't so loud if I was honest but I can hear it. After 10 minutes or so it stops and never returns until I switch it back on again later in the day.

I am sorry because it seems a small silly thing to complain about but never having had such a modern TV before I was curious if most LCD's do this when starting from cold.

I don't want to mention anythign to my son yet as he'll think, once again, that it's my age!

Thank you very much.

Regards,

Bill

If it is a high pitched "wine" its the noise of the power transformer that supplies the unit with its regulated power.

I wouldn't worry about it unless it starts to stay as a wine for more than it does at the moment, or if it changes in the type of sound it is to a buzzing like noise for example.

As suggested, it could be from the PSU, or it could be the inverters - if it bothers you, then get them out to look at it.

Thank you very much Ghostleader. That has helped a lot. As the TV was a gift from my son and his wife I didn't want to go back to him and say that I thought there was something wrong with it.

Kind regards

Bill
