Some strange spiced beer that came in a bottle with a blue label, I think most supermarkets have it and it's either Danish of German I think. It has a sweet liquorice type taste and I had to bin it.

Just remembered it, Hoegaarden Dutch lager. Horrible stuff

Some stuff that I can't remember the name of but it was on rollback in Asda.

Even by brother didn't like it and he tends to drink any beer/lager put in front of him!

Guinness, but TBH, I don't drink much beer. Out of the few sips, Guinness was the worst. It tasted like someone had just filled a glass with the water in the burn down the road. My brother can verify this, having been chucked in. I don't mind Stella, though.

McEwans lager ( I know the purists will say its not a beer ) ...gassy, tasteless, guarantees indigestion.

Stella, not the common "Wife Beater" type, this was a local brew in Egypt, even being stuck in the desert working in an oil refinery wasn't enough to make me try it twice.

Watneys Red Barrel

In my youth Watney`s introduced a five pint can.

McEwans Export - horrible bitter taste
Stella - It gets you drunk sure, but so does Meths!
Stones Bitter - ghastly

Breaker (in a gold coloured can from off licences) is one of the best. Pity the bars don't have it.

Pieterman Artois has Coriander in it, but it's fantastic.

My dad tried a Romanian beer, that was awful.

Chocolate beer is just plain nasty.

You are right, you have to go back to the 70s and 80s to find truly horrible beers - weak, watery and chock full of chemicals. Here in Scotland we had Lorimer's, Youngers Tartan Special and McEwan's. Appalling hangovers were a certainty.

True, all French lager-type beers with German names are ghastly. Luckily in French bars they serve them in very small glasses, so they can't do much damage. And in recent years most places in France do have Belgian beers like Leffe or Grimbergen on tap, which are at least drinkable, although not great by Belgian standards.

I have to 2nd that - we had it on a holiday in Turkey years ago and it tasted even worse when it was warm (which was very quickly, as they had a heat wave whilst we were out there with temps reaching 145 degrees F).

I tried it again this year (just to see if it was still that bad) when Weatherspoons had guest beers and still hated it.

But I have found some good ratings on it here: http://www.thebackpacker.net/worldbe...worldbeers.htm
