Sprouts! Well the stalk actually...

So, I dunno if it's trendy, labour saving or for a really good reason but it seems that fresh sprouts often come on a stalk these days.

So, in the same way that you can use the stalk of brocolli or asparagus, can you use the stalk for anything?
And if so does anybody have any recipes

It just another way to make money, latest fad.
The stalk is useless to eat.

I guess it is... I wouldn't buy sprouts on a stalk but they come on a stalk in my veggie box.

I guess I'll just have to throw it away like I always do then

I either chop and add to home-made soups or use them in the same way as I use broccolli stalks - chopped into little squares then fried in the least possible oil ( keep then moving) until tender then, added with chopped bacon or pancetta to pasta. If you are veggie, ditch the bacon and use the chopped stalks as a base for a veggie sauce. Either way, they're delicious and nutritious.

Ahah! So you can use them the same as brocoli stalks... excellent
Ta, I'll give it a go then.
Just thought I'd ask before wasting teh effort on them cos I've got a lot of cooking to do over the next couple of days.

If you stand the stalk in water then the sprouts keep fresh for much longer.

I've never tried eating the things though.

You could stick the stalk up your ar$e to stop the smell from the digested sprouts from pervading every room in the house.

I always find my meals if they come with sprouts far less enjoyable if they have come with the stalks still on them! If somebody serves me a meal that includes sprouts, and the stalks are still on them, to me, it is a sign of overall laziness from the person who cooked my meal, because they didn't bother to cut the stalks off the sprouts beforehand!

I think you might be surprised if you had sprouts served to you still on the stalk.

You haven't understood....they can be bought still attached to a very long thick stalk.

You could eat the stalk and obtain a more vigorous odour if that's your poison.
