Just a quick point as I was wondering if anyone else is also having trouble finding Linda Mc Cartney sausages (not just at Christmas time, but generally over the past six months)?

I used to be able to get these in all the major supermarkets, but can't seem to find them as easily now. I know the packaging has changed recently. Is anyone else having difficulty buying them?

Cheers and Merry Christmas, etc.

They've rebranded them but they are still available.

IMHO they aren't that good compared to some other vege sausages available even own brand ones like tesco.

Tivioli isn't bad at all. Even tesco's own brand. Also I think Quorn do good ones too.

Linda's are a bit too sickly oily and seem too mushy compared to the others.

Holland and Barratt do them. I think a lot of supermarkets are just stocking their own brands and quorn these days. Annoying because the supermarket own brands and quorn are not vegan and Linda McCartney sausages (not everything else) are. Saying that though, they're not the best veggie sausages around. Redwood Foods do much nicer ones!

It was only a matter of time before they ran out - I'm surprised she has lasted so long to be honest after all she wasn't that fat.

I suspect some filler may have been used.

They're my favourite and I haven't had any trouble getting them. We seem to be able to get the red packaged ones in health food shops and the new packaging in supermarkets.

You don't think Heather might be behind all this?

I like the quorn ones myself, but my carnivore OH likes these (prefers them to pork sausages), so it's annoying I can't find them for his sarnies.

I might smuggle in some other meat-free sausages and hope he doesn't notice the difference. As 2+2=5 says, L Mc C's are too greasy anyway.

I use them to make a sausage and aubergine and tomato pasta dish by kind of shredding them down. It tastes better than it sounds!

There are beef sausages made from beef and pork sausages made from pork. So what are Linda McCartney sausages made from ? Think about it

As I said earlier in the thread, I've had no trouble finding them.

Edit: sorry, didn't see 'tomato'. I don't know about those.

No it's more akin (as a brand name) to asking what 'Wall's' sausages are made of (brick dust, natch) .

Yes, but in the case of Walls it is being used with a possessive apostrophe, now if it were Linda MaCartney's sausages that would be very different. You would not say Wall sausages would you

Apparently the Linda McCartney business was sold last year to an American company called Hain Celestial and they relaunched the Linda McCartney range earlier this year.

For stockists, click on "Where To Buy" on this page:

http://www.lindamccartneyfoods.co.uk/*

The sausages are said to be available in Tesco, Waitrose, Morrisons, the Co-op, Sainsburys and Holland & Barrett.

*It's one of those pages with a very tedious introduction, I'm afraid.

Yeah, the standard 'fake meat' ones are no problem to find here, but the tomato ones were brilliant with a grilled tomato and potato scone. Hmmm...

EDIT - from the above link it looks like it's not a local supply thing. And the country garden lasagne was brilliant too, it also must be no more.
