Apparently things in the Jackson house were not exactly as painted on X factor.
According to todays press, his mum Wendy forced himout of the family home just before auditions for X started. She labelled him a waster who wouldn't succeed at singing and that his love of karaoke would get him nowhere.

She changed her mind as Leon stormed to success and has had the fastest selling No1 single of the year.

So, well done to the kid for persevering in his dream and I hope he does well in the future

I think you've heard the wrong thing. Wendy never labelled Leon a waster. Leon was meant to go to University but he wanted a career in singing, Wendy wanted him to get an education and they had a disagreement which led to Leon storming out and sleeping in the car. Leon stated before his audition "nae disrespect tae ma Mum, but she hinks that me trying to pursue a singing career is just a bit far-fetched"

Well, that's what the tabloids say. Dunno if it's true or not

Extract from Mailonline:

But the 18-year-old's phenomenal success very nearly never happened, as he entered The X Factor only after winning a karaoke competition in his native Scotland.

His mother Wendy forced him out of the family home just before his audition, labelling him a "waster" who wouldn't succeed at singing.

She might have had to revise her opinion now he has a £1million recording contract with Simon Cowell's company SyCo.

Jackson said last night: "I'm absolutely over the moon. Having the Christmas number one is an amazing ending to an amazing year and I'm overwhelmed and thrilled."

I felt so sorry for him being at the audition on his own, when so many of the deluded where there with entourages in tow. If I remenber correctly they pushed him into calling home. That must have added to any difficulties.

The audition video just makes me cry when I hear him saying he was there all on his own!

That must have been such a long and lonely day for Leon.... bless his heart!

Like no-one else ever rows with their family.

When I was a teenager, I fell out with my brother over something trivial, and we didn't speak for weeks. I don't know what - or who - got us talking in the end, but we did, and ended up just as close as we used to be.

Leon and his mum have obviously healed any rift between them.

Blood is thicker than water.

The way I read a similar article was that Leon went out to prove his mum wrong by entering the XFactor auditions. He wanted to prove to her that he could make it as a singer. She thought he was wasting his time by hanging out at the karaoke bar, and wanted him to take up a place either at art school or at uni to study architecture. If she hadn't forced/thrown him out of the house, he'd be studying now.

You've got to hand it to him though - his mum says he's wasting time singing karaoke and he proves her wrong by entering and winning the biggest talent show in the UK. If you wrote it no one would believe it.

Don't know what you mean by that. Leon is obviously very close to his Mum amd Gran. I am sure like every mother his didn't want him to miss the chance of a university education on the risk of a career based on singing at karaoke nights. As it happened he won and hopefully has a good career ahead but it was rather the stuff of dreams and his mother didn't have a crystal ball!

Perhaps there should be a ban on all relatives appearing on XF from now on

focus on the talent - not the history

Sounds like a normal kid of his age, and his mum like all mums thinking we know best..

Who could blame her, Who would want their son having a career based on singing at karaoke nights. and who would have thought a kid with no training could win xfactor.

If he had failed she could have said 'told you so', she still may a year or so down the line who knows..

I wish him all the luck for the future..

What right have you too pass judgment on anyones mother but your own. I despair at the lack of humanity on here sometimes I really do

It's quite obvious that he adores his mum.

Yes, and that's because she's very rare in that industry - not a pushy showbiz mum.
