I love very strong cheese. I had some once that smelt of the farm, it was delicious.
I used to buy a really yummy cheese from the coop but I haven't seen it for ages and I have no idea what its called -it had apple in it and cinamon, and maybe raisins.

I love Y Fenni from Wales - flavoured with beer and wholegrain mustard. Alright, it's a bit of a fake cheese like Yarg but tastes brilliant.

I love the Mousetrap Cheese Shops (one in Ludlow and one in Leominster and other places in the Marches) for my cheese fix.

Dolcelatte, Manchego, Brie and Halloumi.

I like goats cheese and feta, but for cooking I think the best cheese is mature English cheddar.

BUT I had Lanark Blue for the first time when I was at home in Scotland over Christmas, and the blue bits are SO blue that they actually burn your mouth. Don't think I would spend money on it if it wasn't on a cheeseboard.

Boursin has always been a favourite; I also like Manchego, baked Camembert, Dolcelatte, mature Canadian cheddar....

*dissolves in pool of own saliva*

I couldn't possibly pick a single cheese as favorite

but in general the stronger and bluer the better

Stilton... Dolcelatte...


That said, I also like the subtle flavours of Mozzarella (not that nasty plastic stuff that comes in blocks as "Pizza topping")

A nice Caledonoian mature, it has a very crumbly creamy texture, if you can't get it Davidstow is the next best thing and for something a little different yoiu could try Ballyblue not sure if they do it outside Northern Ireland yet but its a cross between stilton and brie - yummy stuff!

I love the blue cheeses. Gorgonzola, Saint Agur and Roquefort all being favourites.

Years ago I bought some 'gorgonzola mascapone' from Sainsbury's, it was just like a very soft Gorgonzola, the Italian bloke I shared a house with (proper foodie) said to me "what the f---in' sh-t is this?" sort of wondering what processed crap I'd bought now, but when he tried it he shut up. It was really to die for, and they only ever had it in the once, and I've never seen it anywhere else ... if anyone else knows about it I'd love to hear more, it seems like a dream now!

I love most cheese but have to admit to a preference for the strong ones - extra mature cheddar, stilton etc. I prefer not to eat processed cheese and can live without mild cheddars, edams etc. Have recently been cutting down on cheese to lose a few pounds but over Christmas I kept away from chocolates, mince pies etc and treated myself to a huge block of stilton, a tin of Wensleydale and some halloumi.

By the way, having tried all the half fat / low fat cheddars on the market whilst in the throes of dieting I can confirm that the only ones worth eating are in Waitrose!

Feta - really good Feta, anyway - is the best cheese. I adore it.

Feta, Halloumi, Brie, Cheddar (extra mature), Stilton. I'd love to be vegan but cheese is holding me back!

My two faves are Lancashire Bomb and Plain Jane cheddar.

Also love crumbly Lancashire/Wensleydale and (as someone has already mentioned) Kraft cheese slices
