my son has one of the above for xmas.he is having problems .can anybody help please with problems.

as the instructions in the booklet said he downloaded itunes from apples website and then connected the ipod to the pc through the usb cables and the booklet said it would take a few minutes for it to start charging and for the setup assistant to appear, however he left it for 15 minutes and nothing happened.

Is something wrong, what should he do??

Did you download then run the iTunes setup program?

Do the following and you should be okay.

- Disconnect iPod from PC
- Run iTunes setup program
- Launch iTunes
- Accept legal agreement
- When you see iTunes running plug in the iPod and after a few seconds it should all burst into life

I'm also the owner of a new ipod nano.
My question is, what is the white plastic piece that comes in the box with the headset and cable?
It's bound to be something obvious but my brain is too fried after the festivities to work it out.

It's a dock adaptor that you can use to stand your iPod in a dock - you've to buy the dock separately though.

It's not possible to disable the "halfie" interface.

Thanks for the info. I guessed it was going to be something like that. My only criticism of the iPod is the woeful lack of information supplied and the reliance on the user having to download manuals and software, something I didn't have to do with my Sony device.

That's like the understatement of the century

I got an iPod Nano (4GB) yesterday, this is my first iPod after having a trusty Q-BE for two years. Straight away I ran into problems, firstly there is no support whatsoever for Linux. I got round this problem but then it wouldn't work in Windows, so restore and back to square one. It took me about 6 hours just to figure out how to put one album on it

Now I run Windows in a virtual machine on a Linux system, so there isn't much hard drive space available to Windows, which I found to be a problem because the Music library is stored there. So I thought "oh, the music is on the iPod already so I'll delete it from the library, it can't do any harm". Oh how wrong was I? I deleted all the music library thinking the music already on the iPod was safe, and when I went to sync another album to it, it erased everything

I've figured out a way to do it now, which is good because it was very close to being thrown out of the window.

Why do some people say in their reviews that it is then?

Is there anyway to change the previews?
