I just heard briefly on Smooth FM that Simon has signed Same Difference to SonyBMG!

Does anyone have any further details, or knows if it's true?

As far as everyone in the SD appreciation thread know is, that they have a deal to release a single in 2008 (most likely after the tour) and if it is successful, they may be releasing an album.

I'd heard that Same Difference were to record a single. I suppose if the single is successful an album would follow. There's so many stories going around about Same Difference and Rhydian - I just want confirmation.

One single deal with Syco.................then depending on how well it sells, possibly an album.

Good for them I guess Simon isn't 100% sure how successful they would be, so this single is a test before they get given a full album.

Indeed

I'm pretty sure they'll get at least a Top 5 hit On an average week you only need around 20k sales to get #5 and around 35k to get a #1 which I'm confident they can get.

But I doubt they'll get a record deal if they debut at #1 and then drop our of the Top 40 the following week. But if that Soulja Boy - Crank dat is selling 20k every week I'm sure SD can match that

Hopefully it will be an original and infectious EuroPop track.

Although I wouldn't be surprised if Cowell made them release Any Dream Will Do.

But if Chico can get to Number 1...

I could certainly imagine them doing a TV series like the S Club 7 one a few years back.

Is it weird that I liked the TV shows?

Since they're gigging up and down the country till before rehearsals for the tour, they might be too busy too write and record original material (and since its out in April apparently) it needs to be recorded straight after the tour to start promotion for its rumoured April release.

Hopefully it is original material though and I'm just wrong ..

Awwww, that's a shame.

I guess that they will have an album. No question. They seem so popular. That single will do well.

Good luck to them.

There is a market for Same Difference. Hopefully the single will sell so well that someone, anyone, will want them to do an album.
