Here's the big question:
Having seen last night's 'Special', how do we think that bodes for the three 'specials' in 2009?

Nonsense - it's been confirmed from every possible source that there will be three full-length specials of Doctor Who starring David Tennant, not just cameos in other shows.

The producers of Doctor Who have said several times that the Doctor will never appear in Torchwood due its adult content.

The same Torchwood that is to be cut and repeated at an earlier time for younger viewers?

I think it's three specials throughout the year as well as a Christmas special. That's why Tennant keeps saying in interviews that he's contracted for four more specials.

This is all separate from another series of Torchwood and Sarah Jane Adventures. The only cross-overs will be in the form of certain characters appearing in more than one show but there will be no shared plots and those characters will be played slightly different in each show because they're catering for a different audience and want each show to have its own identity rather than depening on Doctor Who. Not wanting to entice kids to watch Torchwood or offer the Sarah Jane Adventures fans of sex and gore is part of it but the main reason is simply that they want each series to stand on its own feet.

Ah, but does that mean there will be a Christmas special in 2008 and four specials in 2009 or will there just be four specials including Christmas 2008 and Christmas 2009?

There's a Christmas 2008 special, and three specials in 2009, of which one will, presumably, be screened at Christmas.

This was confirmed by Tennant last week.

Its being cut for younger viewers! unless the Torchwood fans are obsessed with the show im sure Torchwood is going to lose alot of its original fans just so kids and families dont miss out. I will be watching the new series but only for the episodes that Martha Jones is going to be starring in, i did intend to watch the episode with James Marsters for the 'Violent and Horny encounter' as they called it lol but if its being cut why bother?

I watched Torchwood for more than its adult themes lol i did watch it for its Doctor Who connections but the adult themes are a big part of the show. Its the reason they made it isnt it? Doctor Who is for families, Torchwood is for adults. If people made requests for Doctor Who to become more adult oriented they would get refused so how come the request to make Torchwood more family oriented been accepted...

Sorry lol just had to rant

Don't panic - we're still going to get the full uncut versions. It's only the repeats of each episode which will be shown pre-watershed and have all the naughty bits removed.
