Orange - Why haven't they sent me my 4 digit ID code?

Simple question is why?

I had a new phone for christmas yesterday and this is just about the 3rd problem I've had with it.

Basically after I registered with Orange yesterday I was supposed to have my 4 digit ID Code sent by text. Well where is it? it's been well over 24 hours now and I could do with that code right now.

According to Orange's Website they claim

So yes I phoned 450 and tried virtually all the options available and yet I still couldn't find my 4 digit ID Code. What use is that?

Are any other ways in which I can find this code, prefferably without having to phone customer services?

And by the way am I the person who thinks Orange have BAD Customer Service. It took at least 7/8 hours for my phone to be registered with them and they provided me with an out-of-date swipecard which expired in 1999.

GRRRR I hate Orange.

Can Someone please help me? I'm pretty desperate.

Thank you.

Where was the phone bought from originally? If it was bought from Carphone Warehouse, Phones 4U or similar, they have a habit of pre-activating the phones MONTHS in advance, so the text carrying the mobile number and 4 digit ID code expire. It usually means the sim update that activates some of the phone menu's and Caller ID etc doesn't arrive either. 99% of the time it's the retailers fault for activating them too soon.

Becasue it's your security password for your PAYG account, and should have arrived by text, unless the above happens.

No

Firstly, it can take UP TO 24 hours for your phone to be registered, as with any network. Normally it takes less than 30 mins, but always takes longer this time of year.

Finally, I think you'll find your swipe card which states "Expires 12/99", means that it'll expire in December 2099!

(We didn't even have swipe cards in 1999, hell, we'd only just launched PAYG!)

That's not very helpful. How is the OP supposed to know that the instructions provided are incorrect? How can he get the PIN number?
@simax, on other networks you don't activate your phone. For example, on O2 it works as soon as you top-up.

NEXT Directory is where I got the phone from. So yes they must be like Carphone Warehouse and Phones4U. And still after a few days I still haven't had this pin number.

Funny you should say that because I tried registering the top up card and Guess what? Orange WOULDN'T recognise it. So It must have expired in December 1999.

Bzzzzt! WRONG! It will expire in 2099. Swipe cards wern't even invented in 1999 for mobiles. As stated above. If it's not been recognised, then the card is either faulty, or had already been registered.

Have you tried linking the card by speaking to a CSR? or have you only been trying to do so via the IVR?
