Can you turn off AR?
Preston Baz

Just a quick question, i'm sure it's probably in a thread but I can't find it.

I'm currently on version 1.00.10, when the OTA update happens in January I'm a little worried about this AR function.
I would personally just prefer to use auto-padding before and after programmes. So here's the question......can you turn off AR and just use auto-padding?????

Thanks in advance

Yes. Just setting pre or post padding will disable AR (but also disables Series Link).

Hi

Yes you can turn it off by just selecting auto-padding as normal. However due to the short sightedness of the Humax and the Freeview Playback specs, disabling AR also turns off series link

It's still worth upgrading as you get faster population of the EPG, and hopefully other bug fixes.

Thanx for the replys guys...

AR doesn't quite seem like the finished article yet.
Shame about not being able to use the series link feature with AR off, but I'd much prefer to see the end of programmes!

Thanks

I heard if you go to 0.20 it breaks Auto Padding at the start. If so I wouldn't upgrade if you want to disable AR as it's either Auto Padding or AR.

please can you - or anyone - explain in more detail what is meant by "breaks autopadding at the start"

thanks

I think it means it doesn't start early/late as you've set it and instead when the program is supposed to start/end in the EPG.

Hi

As far as I know the problem with autopadding is only that the timer schedule doesn't get deleted after a recording.

We've been using 20 fine with auto padding, just every now and then you have to go the schedule list and delete old timer settings.

This should be fixed in the OTA in January, sorry February, or March perhaps!!!

Is that it? Thanks. I was told Humax specifically tell people not to use Auto-Padding with 20 as it can go horribly wrong.

Is there any serious update on when it or a newer version will appear on Humax's website. I'm not too bothered about OTA but have been waiting for it to appear on an "Official" website though.

We've had no other issues with it apart from the timer not deleting when it's done.

You would have thought the firmware and bug fixes are finished by now, they are leaving it very late to hit the mid Jan slot for OTA, as I would have thought it needed some serious testing before hand. It's hard to undo updating 100,000 plus machines all in one go only for them to all crash! It should already be available for download via the website as sort of a trial run to give a larger audience chance to use it.

So no official word as yet and I wouldn't be surprised if we see nothing mid Jan, and the OTA goes out as version 6 again.

Thanks Phil.

It's still 0.15 here:

You'd think 15 would go out OTA at the very least. They feel comfortable to put that on their website.

I think if Humax and the beta testers are happy with the changes made to address a couple of issues found in the 1.00.20 version, they should be happy for January OTA broadcast slots to remain. Of course, something major could crop up with the software over the next 2 or 3 weeks but I think personally thats unlikely now. Any changes going on by the engineers at the moment will surley be towards the next all new version of the software just because of the reality of the timescales involved in these things.

Hi

Having said no problems 2 things failed to record tonight

You've been framed and Titanic were set, both starting at 18:00, and both failed to record! We think we set it very close to the start time, so maybe it didn't record as it had already gone past the start time, i.e with padding it should have started at 17:57 and it could have just been past that time when it was set from the EPG. The stupid thing though should still have started recording surely! Those Humax programmers know a thing or to about programming pedantic software
