Songs for Leon's first album
If you had to select some cover songs for Leon's first album, what would you suggest?
I'd love him to cover 'Moondance'.

But I don't think it would suit Leon.

I hope 'You Don't Know Me' is on. I would have liked to have seen that on the single but hopefully they are keeping it back for the album.

I agree I think he would be best to avoid going down the all swing route for his first album. |

I'd love him to cover 'Moondance'. ![]() Love Is All Around, Beyond The Sea, To Dream The Impossible Dream (I love Andy Williams' voice and that Honda advert) and Could It Be Magic? (the way I saw Take That do it a few weeks ago a la Barry Manilow style - slow version).

'Home'...but I don't think there'll be any covers. Simon said the songs will be originals.

Did he say somewhere that his album wouldn't be swing? I think I remember seeing that somewhere and that it would consist of original stuff.

As we know, Leon's album will be originals. However, I'd love an album of covers too.

The advantage of new songs is that you can't be compared unfavourably to the original artists...

Well for me, no swing or jazz fro now.
My fave XF perfromances were Home, YDKM and bits of LAWR - shows he has potential beyond the above genres. I'd like him to have a go at stuff in the same vein as Tom Baxters Better or maybe revisit some of Paul Youngs earlier tracks...that would tie nicely in with the more soulful stuff he likes from Paolo and James Morrison. |
