Hi, I'm not entirely sure what I need to achieve the following and would appreciate any help!

My parents have a standard Sky box, and wish to hear the sound from (at least) 4 channels from the 2 channel SCART source (Sky). I think the Skybox has some sort of digital sound out, which I guess would be preferable to use?

It would also be nice if the equipment could accept input from our 5.1 media centre via either digital or analogue links.

The piece of equipment must also play DVD's (they're not a fan of the media centre).

As our TV (monitor) does not have any speakers or a scart socket, we currently play sound through the AV option of our DVD player, which outputs to 2 of the surround speakers, albeit in a somewhat tinny fashion. Sky's picture is provided through the Svideo in of the plasma...

Would it therefore also be possible to output Sky's picture to the proposed piece of equipment, so they could share the component video input of the Plasma?

In summary, what do we need to;
-Get 4 channel output from Sky (assuming 2 channel out)
-Play DVD's (component)
-Get 5.1 output from PC
-Pass Sky through the component connection

Very much appreciate any help which can be given!

what your problem is that dvd players with surround sound dont generally have much input potential

So what can you do ?

what about optical inputs in your 5.1 media centre? if you got one hook up sky to that

The problem with that is, the media centre is far beyond them.

So I'm looking to buy something they can just turn on.
