I never really got into it, but I suppose it's down to the individual user.

I never felt the need to take a picture, or record my voice, and send it to someone.

Most people I know use bluetooth/infrared to send pics to their friends, or transfer them to pc, and send via e-mail or a networking site.

I do send the odd picture, but maybe up to 5 times a year tops. It's handy having the option though!

I use it quite often. At least once or twice a day as do many people i know.

Normally its just sending random bollocks or pics of my kid to family etc.

Came in quite useful when i was lost once lol

Took a pic sent it to a friend and he told me where i was lol

MMS does seem quite popular, its used to send pictures, sound or video from one phone to another. Networks also use it to send, news and entertainment messages to subscribers.
Originally, messages where limited to 100k in size, but once this was lifted MMS has seen increasing popularity.
With the increase in blogging, it has really taken off as you can post pictures/text directly from your handset without the use of special software.
If you watch any of the 24 hour news channels when a major story breaks you often see photos/video sent by viewers using MMS to the netwroks special MMS shortcodes.

I send around 40-50 MMS a month. The increased 300k limit for 3G users is very welcome too. Mind you, in recent years, I've seen some 2G networks allow this amount. Better than the 50k Vodafone limited me to when it first launched in 2002!

I dare say in 5 years time or so when EVERYONE has some sort of data plan on their handset with always-on email, IM & VoIP; MMS could well suffer. As could SMS. And 'standard' calls. To one extent or another.

But that's a good few years off, IMHO.

I sent all my christmas and new year messages via MMS.

A nice way of getting a seasonal gif and music playing when viewing the message. Just adds that personal touch !

It saved me a fortune when I went to America as with T-Mobile it came out of my monthly Flext allowance (20p per message).

Basically meant I could communicate with the UK for free
